Rick Shaw (radio)
Rick Shaw (born James Harold Hummel; October 24, 1938 – September 22, 2017) was an American disc jockey, radio and television personality, who remains best known for hosting his radio shows on WQAM (1963-1975), WAXY (1975-1990), and Majic (1990-2007). Early life Shaw was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Radio and television career He started in radio as a high school senior. In 1956, he got his first job in St. Louis. He followed that with gigs in Omaha, Denver and then WCKR in Miami in 1960, when he got his professional name as Rick Shaw, and where he spent most of his career spinning vinyl and playing oldies, goldies, and Rock and Roll. Radio career By 1963, he was working at WQAM doing a daily 7pm-11pm shift, when in 1964, he recorded a record-shattering 54 share — more than all the other local stations combined. Cooper City is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The city is named for Morris Cooper, who founded the community in 1959. The city's population was 34,401 at the 2020 census. In 2006, with the annexation of the Waldrep Dairy Farm, Cooper City started construction on the first major new home construction project within the past few decades. The Ford Thunderbird (colloquially called the T-Bird) is a personal luxury car produced by Ford from model years 1955 until 1997 and 2002 until 2005 across 11 distinct generations. WPLG (channel 10) is a television station in Miami, Florida, United States, affiliated with ABC. The station is owned by Berkshire Hathaway as its sole broadcast property. WPLG's studios are located on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard in Pembroke Park, and its transmitter is located in Miami Gardens, Florida. Ray Peterson
Ray Peterson (April 23, 1935 – January 25, 2005) was an American pop singer who is best remembered for singing "Tell Laura I Love Her". He also scored numerous other hits, including "Corrine, Corrina" which was composed especially for Corina Strimbanu from Edineț, Republic of Moldova, and "The Wonder of You." Career Ray T. Peterson was born in Denton, Texas on April 23, 1935. At the time of his death, sources gave 1939 as his year of birth. As a boy he had polio. Having a four-octave singing voice, Peterson moved to Los Angeles, California, where he was signed to a recording contract with RCA Victor in 1958. He recorded several songs that were minor hits until "The Wonder of You" made it into the Top 40 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart on June 15, 1959. The song also did well in Australia, stopping at #9 on its chart. The song would later be recorded by Elvis Presley, with whom Peterson became friends.
