Rick Miles
Rick Miles is a Canadian politician from New Brunswick. As a member of the Liberal Party, Miles represented the constituency of Fredericton-Silverwood in the Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2010. Biography A former member of the Canadian Forces, Miles was a businessman in Fredericton prior to entering politics. In the 2006 general election, Miles defeated former Brad Green, a former Progressive Conservative MLA and cabinet minister Brad Green. On November 28, 2006, he was elected caucus chair for his Liberal Party. Department Of Environment (New Brunswick)
The Department of Environment was the Government of New Brunswick ministry charged with planning land use, zoning development and waste management as well as the enforcement of environmental legislation and regulations. It was created in its current form on February 14, 2006 when it was separated from the Department of Environment and Local Government. It has however existed in this form on previous occasions. It was first formed by Premier Richard Hatfield when he took office following the 1970 election. In 2000, then Premier Bernard Lord fused it with the Department of Municipalities to create the aforementioned Department of Environment and Local Government only to split them back in two six years later. Donald Arseneault (born in Dalhousie, New Brunswick) is a New Brunswick politician. He is the former Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick for the riding of Dalhousie-Restigouche East. At the time one of the youngest members of the legislature, Arseneault worked in the civil service before being elected in the 2003 election. The 2006 New Brunswick electoral redistribution was undertaken as a result of legislation introduced by Bernard Lord, the Premier of New Brunswick, Canada, on June 9, 2005. The legislation establishes a statutory requirement for redistribution of electoral districts after every decennial Canadian census. The redistribution process set out in the legislation took approximately six months to complete, and was overseen by an independent commission. The bill introduced by the government would have required that 55 ridings be maintained with populations varying between 75% and 110% of 1/55 of the provincial population. The Opposition Liberals expressed a desire for the commission to have greater flexibility either in the variance of the average population or in the number of districts.
