Rick Edmonds
Richard Phillip Edmonds Jr. (born September 12, 1956), is an American pastor and politician from the U.S. state of Louisiana. A Republican, he is a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from East Baton Rouge Parish and was among nine candidates for secretary of state in the 2018 special election to fill the seat vacated by Tom Schedler. Edmonds finished in fourth place in the race with 164,949 (11 percent). His House colleague, Julie Stokes of Jefferson Parish, finished in fifth place, also with 11 percent of the ballots cast. In a runoff election in December, victory went to the Republican interim secretary Kyle Ardoin. In the 2015 House election, Edmonds unseated a fellow Republican, the moderate Darrell Ourso. Jefferson Parish (french: Paroisse de Jefferson; es, Parroquia de Jefferson) is a parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 440,781. Its parish seat is Gretna, its largest community is Metairie, and its largest incorporated city is Kenner. Jefferson Parish is included in the Greater New Orleans area. Robert Kyle Ardoin (born July 31, 1967) is an American politician from the state of Louisiana. A Republican, he has served as Secretary of State of Louisiana since May 9, 2018. Ardoin took the post when former Secretary of State Tom Schedler resigned. Biography A native of Brusly, Louisiana in West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, Ardoin resides in the capital city of Baton Rouge. Julie Skinner Stokes (born January 23, 1970) is an American politician and Certified Public Accountant who served as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for the 79th district from 2013 to 2020. Early life and education Stokes is the only child of Doris Guerin Skinner, a Metairie native, and the late Edward Thomas Skinner. In 1992, Stokes received her Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of New Orleans. She attended Jefferson Parish Public Schools and the University of New Orleans.
