Rick Brewer
Rick Brewer (born in Stanley, New Brunswick) is a New Brunswick businessman and politician, and a former assistant pastor. Early life Brewer was the son of Richard C. Brewer and Emma Hanson. He was an assistant pastor in the Pentecostal Church. For most of his life, Brewer has been involved in business, largely in the grocery industry. He has been involved in the grocery industry for the past 33 years, beginning with the wholesale business at Willett Foods and The Food Group Inc. He then entered the retail market as the manager and supervisor of five convenience stores. Political career He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2003 election to represent the riding of Southwest Miramichi defeating cabinet minister Norman Betts. Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin (french: Miramichi-Sud-Ouest-Baie-du-Vin) is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. Whip (politics)
A whip is an official of a political party whose task is to ensure party discipline in a legislature. This means ensuring that members of the party vote according to the party platform, rather than according to their own individual ideology or the will of their donors or constituents. Whips are the party's "enforcers". They try to ensure that their fellow political party legislators attend voting sessions and vote according to their party's official policy. Members who vote against party policy may "lose the whip", being effectively expelled from the party. The term is taken from the "whipper-in" during a hunt, who tries to prevent hounds from wandering away from a hunting pack. Additionally, the term "whip" may mean the voting instructions issued to legislators, or the status of a certain legislator in their party's parliamentary grouping. Edward Joseph "Ed" Doherty, (born May 22, 1949) is a New Brunswick ophthalmologist and politician, who has served in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick representing the riding of Saint John Harbour. He was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, the son of Joseph Doherty and Marion McMackin, and was educated in Moncton, at St. Francis Xavier University and at Dalhousie University. Blaine Higgs
Blaine Myron Higgs (born March 1, 1954) is a Canadian politician who is the 34th and current premier of New Brunswick since 2018 and leader of the New Brunswick Progressive Conservative Party (PC Party) since 2016. Higgs graduated from the University of New Brunswick as an engineer. He then worked for 33 years for Irving Oil. Higgs ran for the leadership of the anti-bilingual New Brunswick Confederation of Regions Party in 1989. Higgs was first elected to the legislature in the 2010 provincial election and served as minister of finance from 2010 to 2014 in the government of David Alward. In the 2018 provincial election, Higgs narrowly carried the PCs to a minority government, despite losing the popular vote. R. Wallis "Wally" Stiles (born October 18, 1950 in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada) is a New Brunswick politician. He represented the electoral district of Petitcodiac in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1999–2010. Boiestown, New Brunswick
Boiestown (1991 population: 349) is a Canadian community in the rural community of Upper Miramichi in Northumberland County, New Brunswick. It is situated on the Southwest Miramichi River approximately 60 kilometres northeast of Fredericton, near the province's geographic centre on Route 8 and the eastern terminus of Route 625. Boiestown's post office was established in 1842. Boiestown is home to the Central New Brunswick Woodsmen's Museum. Nearby attractions include Priceville Footbridge, the longest suspension footbridge in New Brunswick, and Nelson Hollow Bridge, the oldest covered bridge in the province. Boiestown is the setting for ''Peter Emberley'', a well-known traditional ballad and the favourite lumbering song of New Brunswick.
