Richmond Upon Thames London Borough Council Elections
Richmond upon Thames London Borough Council elections are held every four years for all 54 councillor seats in the 18 wards that make up the Borough Council. By-elections are held in individual wards when vacancies arise outside the four-year cycle. Political control The first election to the council was held in 1964, initially operating as a shadow authority before the new system came into full effect in 1965. Serge Lourie
(Alexander) Serge Lourie CF (born 22 February 1946) is a former Leader of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, where he was a local government councillor from 1982 to 2010. He was Chairman of the United Kingdom Housing Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Trust and Sanctuary Housing Association. He has also been the General Secretary of Help the Aged and a board member of the London Pensions Fund Authority and the Notting Hill Housing Trust. Early life and education Lourie was born on 22 February 1946. He is of Russian extraction and is the great-grandson of Lev Philippovitch Wolkenstein. His mother was Anna Rootchenko. He was educated at St Paul's School, London and Worcester College, Oxford (1965–68), graduating from the University of Oxford with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. David Williams (Richmond Upon Thames Politician)
Sir David Reeve Williams CBE (born 8 June 1939) is a British politician and former Leader of Richmond upon Thames Council, where he was a local government councillor for forty years. In July 2017 he was presented with the Freedom of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Early life Williams studied at Durham University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Economics. After university he worked as a systems analyst for IBM from 1961 until 1970. 2022 Richmond Upon Thames London Borough Council Election
The 2022 Richmond upon Thames London Borough Council election is due to take place on 5 May 2022. All 54 members of Richmond upon Thames London Borough Council will be elected. The elections will take place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom.
