Richmond High School is a high school located in the Melbourne, Australia suburb of Richmond. Its predecessor, Richmond Secondary College, was the centre of a public protest and occupation of the site after it was listed for closure by the Liberal Kennett Government in 1993. 1967-1992 The school commenced in 1967 in portable classrooms at the back of Brighton Street Primary School, before moving in 1970 to purpose-built premises on the banks of the Yarra River near Bridge Road. The school's name was changed to Richmond Secondary College, and in 1992 it was listed for closure by the Kennett Government. Richmond School & Sixth Form College, often referred to simply as Richmond School, is a Mixed-sex education, coeducational secondary school located in North Yorkshire, England. It was created by the merger of three schools, the oldest of which, Richmond Grammar School, is of such antiquity that its exact founding date is unknown. The first mentions of it in writings, however, is estimated, to be between 1361 and 1474. It was officially ratified as an educational establishment in 1568 by Elizabeth I of England, Elizabeth I. Richmond High School (RHS) is a secondary school located in Richmond, California, United States. It is part of the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) and serves half of North Richmond and San Pablo. History Richmond High School opened on August 5, 1907, in a two-room building on Standard Avenue with 36 students, three teachers, one principal, and one supervising principal. In 1908 a new building was erected for $85,000 on 23rd Street near Macdonald Avenue. It serviced students in a 34 square mile radius; it currently services half of North Richmond, south of Parr Blvd., and part of the Iron Triangle. It is the home of the Richmond Red Devils, who are members of the North Central Conference of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA). Prior to 1939, the school was known as Morton High School in honor of Indiana's Civil War Governor, Oliver P. Morton. The current principal of Richmond High is Rae Woolpy. Facilities Built in 1939-1941, the Colonial revival-style school originally consisted of an academic building called Morton Hall, a gymnasium called Civic Hall, and McGuire Hall, which houses the Richmond Art Museum. Richmond High School (1900–1973), was a segregated public high school for African-American students in Richmond, Kentucky ( Madison County, Kentucky). The school offered classes for grades 9-12 and enrollment never exceeded 150. It never graduated a class of more than 50 students in its existence. The official name of the school was Richmond High and Elementary School. In 1956, Richmond High was integrated into the city high school for white students (Madison) as the Richmond City Board of Education carried out the Supreme Court's ''Brown'' decision. A gradual integration program was initiated that year as sophomores, juniors and seniors from Richmond High were enrolled at Madison High. By 1960, freshmen were admitted as well.
