Richie Browne
Richard Browne (born 1934) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Castletownroche, divisional side Avondhu and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. Career Browne first played hurling at under-14 level with Castletownroche. He never played at minor level but eventually progressed onto the club's junior team in 1952. Browne played in goal for a while before winning the first of seven North Cork JHC titles in 1954. He claimed a Cork JHC medal in 1960 before winning a Cork IHC medal in 1964. Browne's performances earned selection to the Avondhu divisional team in 1958. He completed the full set of county honours by winning a Cork SHC medal after a defeat of University College Cork in the 1966 final. Browne had a 30-year career at adult level with Castletown and he retired after winning a second Cork JHC title in 1982. Munster Junior Hurling Championship
The Munster Junior Hurling Championship is a junior "knockout" competition in the game of Hurling played in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Munster Council. The winners of the Munster Junior Hurling Championship each year progress to play the other provincial champions for a chance to win the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship. Generally, the strong hurling counties have fielded their second team in this competition. In recent years though, they have participated in the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship instead. The competition has been suspended and is unlikely to be re-established. In the years between 1961 and 1973 Kerry represented Munster in the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship. Castletownroche Hurlers
Castletownroche () is a townland, village, and civil parish in the barony of Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland. It is located on the N72 national secondary road. In ancient times, it was known in Irish as ''Dún Chruadha'', meaning Cruadha's Fort. Castletownroche is located on the River Awbeg in the Blackwater Valley about eight miles (13 km) from Mallow. Castletownroche is within the Cork East Dáil constituency. History de la Roch The first historical record about Castletownroche is from the late 13th century when the Anglo-Norman family of de la Roche established a fortress here. They were descendants of Richard FitzGodebert (Richard, son of Godebert) who came with Strongbow to Ireland. The 1961 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 75th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887.
