Richard Walker (baritone)
Richard Walker, (18 November 1897 – 26 August 1989) was an English opera singer and actor, best known for his performances in the baritone roles of the Savoy Operas with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. Between 1932 and 1939 Walker was married to D'Oyly Carte chorister Ena Martin. He married the company's principal soprano Helen Roberts in 1944. After serving in the Coldstream Guards, Walker began his career in touring in concerts and revues. He joined D'Oyly Carte at age 27 and remained with the company for 25 years. At first playing mostly smaller roles and understudying larger ones, by 1942 Walker had been promoted as a principal baritone of the company, playing roles like Pooh Bah in ''The Mikado''. Dick Walker (footballer, Born 1913)
Edward Richard Walter Walker (22 July 1913 – February 1988) was an English footballer who played for West Ham United. He was born in Hackney, London. Dick Walker's three decade association with West Ham began during the 1932–33 season. Playing for Becontree Athletic on Sunday mornings, Walker was spotted by a club scout and given a trial. He played for the club in the London Midweek League, but moved to west London club Park Royal for the following season. After a home clash against Park Royal, West Ham re-signed the player and he made his first-team debut as right-half against Burnley on 27 August 1934. After featuring in a number of defensive positions, he finally settled into centre-half as replacement for Jim Barrett in 1936. During World War II, Walker served with an infantry battalion who fought from El Alamein to Italy and was several times mentioned in dispatches. Richard Walker (born around 1956) is a Scottish journalist who is editor of the '' Sunday National''. He was editor of the ''Sunday Herald'' from 1999–2015 and launched '' The National'' in 2014. He was Newsquest's editor of the year in 2014. Early life Walker was born around 1956 and was educated at St Michael's Academy, Kilwinning, Scotland. He then went to Napier College, Edinburgh. In 1990 he became production editor at ''Spectrum'' magazine and worked at the ''Scotland on Sunday''. In 1995 he moved to deputy features editor at the '' Daily Record''. Richard Walter Walker (27 December 1900 – 10 April 1982) FRAeS was a British aerospace engineer, and main designer for jet aircraft of Gloster Aircraft Company. Early life He was born in 1900 in Bradford. Career After an apprenticeship in Bradford he joined the RAF in 1918. In 1919 he went to Bradford Technical College for four years. After a brief period at Blackburn he joined the Hawker Aircraft company in 1925 as a draughtsman. During his time at Hawkers he was in charge of designing the metal wing for the Hawker Hurricane. Whilst at Hawkers he was seconded to a role in Sweden where he met his future wife. He became an Associate Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in 1934. Francis Patrick "Frank" Walker (born 10 September 1933) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played for Perth Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), and also represented Western Australia. He was educated at Aquinas College in Salter Point, where he was mentored in football by Jerry Dolan. He was also playing club football for South Perth under East Perth great Mick Cronin. Walker trained with East Perth in 1951, even attending a trip to Collie with them and playing a scratch match against South Fremantle. Richard Stuart Walker (born 17 September 1980) is an English football coach and former player who is the lead professional development phase coach at club Wolverhampton Wanderers. A defender with an eleven-year professional career, he played 185 competitive games, including 158 appearances in the English Football League. Walker spent most of his career with Crewe Alexandra, and played over 100 games for the club between 1999 and 2006. During this time he also played on loan for non-League clubs Northwich Victoria and Halesowen Town. He was promoted out of the Second Division with Crewe in 2002–03. He joined Port Vale in 2006, and was loaned out to Wrexham in 2007. In 2008, he signed with Macclesfield Town, before transferring to non-League Hednesford Town the following year. Richard Martin Walker (born 8 November 1977) is an English former footballer who played as a forward for Devon and Exeter League club Beer Albion. Career Early career Walker started his career at Aston Villa in 1997. Here, he scored a goal against Arsenal, one of the highest points of his Villa career. After loan spells with Cambridge United, Blackpool and Wycombe Wanderers, he signed for the Seasiders in 2001.
