Richard Silverwood
Richard Silverwood (born 1976, in Dewsbury, England) is a retired international rugby league referee. He officiated in the Super League competition as one of the Rugby Football League's Full Time Match Officials until his retirement whilst suspended in July 2016. First games Silverwood's first professional game was York - Batley Bulldogs on 28 March 1999. His first Super League game was Halifax - Salford City Reds on 6 May 2001. He had refereed 304 Super League games as of the end of 2012. He was Rugby Football League's referee of the year in 2006. Challenge Cup Silverwood refereed the Challenge Cup Final in 2006, 2010 and 2012. Super League Grand Final Silverwood refereed the Super League Grand Final in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Dewsbury
Dewsbury is a minster and market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. It lies on the River Calder and on an arm of the Calder and Hebble Navigation waterway. It is to the west of Wakefield, east of Huddersfield and south of Leeds. World Club Challenge
The World Club Challenge is an annual rugby league competition between the winners of the Australasian National Rugby League (NRL) and the European Super League, for the de facto club world championship of the sport. The first such match was played in 1976 but did not become a regular fixture until the late 1980s. It was also punctuated in the 1990s by the Super League war but has been held every year since 2000. The Sydney Roosters are the current champions, defeating St Helens 20–12 in 2020. Between 2015 and 2017, the World Club Challenge became the championship match for the 3 game, World Club Series. Two further exhibition matches were played prior to the main game. Super League Grand Final
The Super League Grand Final is the championship-deciding game of rugby league's Super League competition. It is played between two teams who have qualified via the Super League Play-Off series. The winning team receives the Super League Trophy and goes on to play the NRL champions in the World Club Challenge. The Harry Sunderland Trophy is awarded to the man of the match. The match is normally played at Old Trafford in Greater Manchester. Only 4 clubs have won the Super League, as of 2022 - St Helens (10), Leeds Rhinos (8), Wigan Warriors (5), and Bradford Bulls (4). The Salford Red Devils are a professional rugby league club in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, who play in the Super League. Batley is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. York City Knights
The York Knights are the men's professional rugby league team of York RLFC (known as the York City Knights from 2002 to 2022) based in York, England. The Knights played their home games at Huntington Stadium before moving to Bootham Crescent.
