Richard Shaw (footballer)
Richard Edward Shaw (born 11 September 1968) is an English football coach and former professional footballer, who is under-23s coach at Championship side Watford. As a player, he was a defender from 1986 until 2008, notably in the Premier League for Crystal Palace and Coventry City as well as in the Football League for both Hull City and Millwall. He later became a coach and joined the coaching staff at Millwall where he saw time as caretaker manager in 2007. He later returned to Coventry in 2012 as assistant manager where he also took over temporarily. The following season he re-joined Palace as their under-23 side coach from 2013 in a role he held until 2019. In 2021 Shaw became assistant coach for Watford's under-23s. Playing career Club Shaw started his career at Crystal Palace, coming up through their youth system. Brentford
Brentford is a suburban town in West London, England and part of the London Borough of Hounslow. It lies at the confluence of the River Brent and the Thames, west of Charing Cross. Football League Division One
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. Football League Championship
The English Football League Championship (often referred to as the Championship for short or the Sky Bet Championship for sponsorship purposes) is the highest division of the English Football League (EFL) and second-highest overall in the English football league system, after the Premier League. The league is contested by 24 clubs. Introduced for the 2004–05 season as the Football League Championship the division was previously known as the Football League Second Division (1892–1992) and Football League First Division (1992– 2004). The winning club of the Championship receives the EFL Championship trophy, the same trophy that was awarded to English First Division champions from 1892 until 1992. Steve Harrison (footballer)
Steven John Harrison (born 26 December 1952) is an English former professional footballer, manager and coach. As a player, he played as a full-back for Blackpool (his hometown club), Vancouver Whitecaps, Watford and Charlton Athletic. Following his retirement, as a manager and coach he worked at Watford, Millwall, Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Preston North End and Aston Villa, as well as working with the England national football team under Graham Taylor. He moved to Middlesrough in 2001 following the appointment of Steve McClaren and in 2003 he was appointed as the team's defensive coach. Harrison took on a more general role after Gareth Southgate took over, but left the club in July 2008 after suffering health problems in recent years. Andy Thorn (footballer)
Andrew Charles Thorn (born 12 November 1966) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. He was most recently the manager of Kidderminster Harriers. As a player, he was a defender from 1984 until 1998. Whilst with Wimbledon, he was part of the side that achieved the famous victory over Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup Final. He also played in the 1990 FA Cup Final for Crystal Palace, although this time ended up on the losing side. He also played for Newcastle United, Hearts and Tranmere Rovers. Kenny Jackett
Kenneth Francis Jackett (born 5 January 1962) is a former professional football player and manager, who is currently Director of Football at club Gillingham. A skilful left-footed player, able to play in defence or midfield, Jackett was capped 31 times for Wales. He spent his entire playing career at Watford before his career was ended by injury at the age of 28. Having moved on to the club's coaching staff, he began his managerial career during the 1996–97 season. From 2004 to 2007 he was manager of Swansea City, leading the club to promotion and several trophies. Willie Donachie
William Donachie (born 5 October 1951) is a Scottish former professional footballer. Donachie had a long playing career, the majority of which was with Manchester City. He also played for Norwich City, Burnley, Oldham Athletic and Portland Timbers. Donachie played 35 times for Scotland and was selected in two FIFA World Cup squads (1974 and 1978). Towards the end of his playing career Donachie became a player-coach at Oldham, working with Joe Royle. Donachie has since worked for numerous teams in coaching roles. Umbro Cup
The Umbro Cup was a friendly international football competition, which took place in June 1995 in England. The trophy was sponsored by the sports brand Umbro, the manufacturers of England's kit. Host nation England, Sweden, Japan and world champions Brazil participated in the tournament. Brazil were the eventual champions, after winning all three of their games. The staging of the competition served as an rehearsal for England's hosting of UEFA Euro 1996 the following summer. Terry Venables
Terence Frederick Venables (born 6 January 1943), often referred to as El Tel, is an English former football player and manager, and an author. During the 1960s and '70s, he played for various clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers, and gained two caps for England. As a club manager, Venables won the Second Division championship with Crystal Palace in 1979. He reached the 1982 FA Cup Final with Queens Park Rangers and won the Second Division in 1983. With Barcelona, he won La Liga in 1985 and reached the 1986 European Cup Final. He guided Tottenham Hotspur to FA Cup victory in 1991. He also managed Middlesbrough and Leeds United.
