Richard Schmitz
Richard Schmitz (14 December 1885 in Mohelnice, Moravia – 27 April 1954 in Vienna) was the last Social-Christian mayor of Vienna, Austria. Schmitz served as Vice Chancellor of Austria, as well as its Minister of Social Welfare and of Education, and as Commissioner of Vienna. He was a member of the pro-Habsburg Christian Social Party. After an active role in the Heimwehr- Austrofascist clash with the Clericals, Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss appointed him Mayor of Vienna in 1934. He succeeded elected Mayor Karl Seitz. Ardently anti-Nazi, Schmitz was Mayor four years later when Austria was absorbed into the Third Reich in the Anschluss. Until that point, Schmitz spoke out publicly against Nazism and its tactics. Mohelnice
Mohelnice (; german: Müglitz) is a town in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 9,100 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Administrative parts Villages of Křemačov, Květín, Libivá, Podolí, Řepová, Studená Loučka and Újezd are administrative parts of Mohelnice. Studená Loučka forms an exclave of the municipal territory. Hermann Neubacher
Hermann Neubacher (24 June 1893 – 1 July 1960) was an Austrian Nazi politician who held a number of diplomatic posts in the Third Reich. During the Second World War, he was appointed as the leading German foreign ministry official for Greece and the Balkans (including Serbia, Albania and Montenegro). The transport of concentration camp inmates to Tyrol refers to a transfer of 139 high-profile prisoners ('' Prominenten'') of the Nazi regime in the final weeks of the Second World War in Europe from Dachau Concentration Camp in Bavaria to South Tyrol. The transport is notable for involving a confrontation between the escorting SS and SD detachments and a force of the German Army (''Heer'') in Niederdorf. Ultimately, the SS/SD were faced with overwhelming firepower and stood down, whereupon the army unit "adopted" the Prominenten and escorted them to their final destination at the Hotel Pragser Wildsee some 12 km off.
