Richard Refshauge
Richard Christopher Refshauge (born 1947) is a former Australian judge. Early life Refshauge was born in 1947, the son of Major General Sir William Refshauge and his wife Helen (née Allwright). One brother is Andrew Refshauge, Andrew, who went on to become Deputy Premier of New South Wales. He was educated at the Australian National University, graduating BA (Hons) in 1972 and LLB in 1975. He was president of the Australian National University Students' Association in 1972. Career Refshauge worked for Canberra law firm Macphillamy Cummins & Gibson from 1976, becoming a partner in 1981 and the senior partner in 1992. The firm merged with Sly & Weigall in 1994 which then changed its name to Deacons (law firm), Deacons Graham & James in 1995 (subsequently acquired by Norton Rose FulbNorton Rose). William Refshauge
Major General Sir William Dudley Duncan Refshauge, (3 April 1913 – 27 May 2009) was an Australian soldier and public health administrator. He was Honorary Physician to Queen Elizabeth II (1955–64), director-general of the Australian Government Department of Health (1960–73), and secretary-general of the World Medical Association (1973–76). Early years and education William Dudley Duncan Refshauge was born in Wangaratta, Victoria on 3 April 1913, where his father was headmaster of the Wangaratta High School. One of his four siblings was Joan Refshauge (1906–1979), a medical practitioner and administrator who did significant work in Papua New Guinea. Andrew John Refshauge (born on 16 January 1949) was a former Australian politician who was Deputy Premier of New South Wales from 1995 to 2005, a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly between 1983 and 2005, and a senior minister in the Carr ministry.
