Richard Padovan
Richard Padovan (born 1935) is an architect, author, translator and lecturer. In the 1950s he studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture; he has practised architecture in several European countries, and taught at the University of Bath and Buckinghamshire College of Higher Education. He is the namesake of the Padovan sequence. Van der Laan Padovan became fascinated with the works of Hans van der Laan after being sent van der Laan's book ''De architectonische ruimte'' to review because of his knowledge of the Dutch language. He visited van der Laan beginning in 1980, and continued to correspond with him afterward. He became the translator of the book into English as ''Architectonic Space: Fifteen Lessons on the Disposition of the Human Habitat'' (1983), and wrote the book ''Dom Hans van der Laan: modern primitive'' (1989) about van der Laan. Ian Stewart (mathematician)
Ian Nicholas Stewart (born 24 September 1945) is a British mathematician and a popular-science and science-fiction writer. He is Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Warwick, England. Education and early life Stewart was born in 1945 in Folkestone, England. While in the sixth form at Harvey Grammar School in Folkestone he came to the attention of the mathematics teacher. The teacher had Stewart sit mock A-level examinations without any preparation along with the upper-sixth students; Stewart was placed first in the examination. He was awarded a scholarship to study at the University of Cambridge as an undergraduate student of Churchill College, Cambridge, where he studied the Mathematical Tripos and obtained a first-class Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics in 1966. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe ( ; ; born Maria Ludwig Michael Mies; March 27, 1886August 17, 1969) was a German-American architect. He was commonly referred to as Mies, his surname. Along with Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius and Frank Lloyd Wright, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of modernist architecture. In mathematics, a recurrence relation is an equation according to which the nth term of a sequence of numbers is equal to some combination of the previous terms.
