Richard P. Werbner
Richard P. Werbner (born August 11, 1937) is an American anthropologist who specializes in the Zimbabwe and Botswana region, including ritual, personal and historical narrative, politics, law, regional analysis. He has taught at the University of Manchester since 1961. Biography Professor Richard Werbner was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on the 11th August 1937. He studied at Brandeis University, conducting fieldwork among the Winnebago of Nebraska in 1958 and graduating with a BA in 1959. He obtained a Fulbright Scholarship in 1959, through which he was able to go to the United Kingdom to study at Manchester University. He began field studies in southern Africa in 1960 among the Kalanga people, first in Zimbabwe and later in Botswana, and then among the Tswapong people in Botswana. Brackets
A bracket is either of two tall fore- or back-facing punctuation marks commonly used to isolate a segment of text or data from its surroundings. Eloyi Christian Church
The Eloyi Christian Church was founded by Archbishop Jakoba Keiphile -a-Seduma in 1955 in the small village of Tsetsebjwe, to the southeast of Selebi Phikwe in Botswana. The Church has since spread across Botswana and into neighboring countries like South Africa and Zimbabwe. It has attracted much attention for its dramatic scenes and exorcisms of demons. The church began to expand in 2005 after Jakoba grew old and handed over responsibility to his children. As of 2005 the church was based in the north part of Botswana. In early 2005 church members hunted and dismembered a snake that they said was terrorizing a Tlokweng family. Moremi, Botswana
Moremi is a village in the Central District of Botswana, about east of Palapye. The village lies in a bend of the Lotsane River, a seasonal tributary of the Limpopo River. It lies just north of the dramatic Tswapong Hills. The Moremi-Mannonye Community Trust charges an entrance fee to the Moremi Gorge heritage site, an area where perennial streams have cut deep gorges into the hills, with waterfalls cascading into deep pools surrounded by lush vegetation. The gorges are home to many birds that feeds on the fish and small crabs in the pools, and are breeding grounds for the endangered Cape vulture. Leopard, hyena and kudu live in the hills, and the cliffs above the gorge harbour baboons, rock rabbits and dassies. The Botswana Tourism Organization is building a bridge for motor vehicles across the Lotsane River, and is building tourist accommodations and nature trails in the Moremi - Mannonye Conservation Area. Gaborone ( , , ) is the capital and largest city of Botswana with a population of 246,325 based on the 2022 census, about 10% of the total population of Botswana.
