Richard O'Connell (politician)
Richard O'Connell (13 March 1892 – 1 October 1964) was an Irish Cumann na nGaedheal politician. A former Army officer, he was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Cumann na nGaedheal Teachta Dála (TD) for the Limerick constituency at a by-election on 28 May 1924. He was re-elected at the June 1927 and September 1927 general elections but lost his seat at the 1932 general election. He stood again at the 1933 general election but was not elected. His nephew Tom O'Donnell was a TD for Limerick East from 1961 to 1987. His grand-nephew Kieran O'Donnell is currently a TD for Limerick City. Dick O'Connell
Richard Henry O'Connell (September 19, 1914 – August 18, 2002) was an American front office executive in Major League Baseball. He was executive vice president of the Boston Red Sox from 1961 through 1977 and served as general manager of the team from September 16, 1965, through October 24, 1977, a period during which he played a pivotal role in restoring the Red Sox to contending status, won two American League pennants, and helped make the team a flagship MLB franchise. Early life A native of Winthrop, Massachusetts, O'Connell attended Boston College, earning a bachelor's degree in 1937 and a master's degree the following year. He worked in private business and taught and coached athletics at Sanborn Academy, Kingston, New Hampshire, until the outbreak of World War II. Richard O'Connell (December 14, 1949 – February 28, 2004) was an American Thoroughbred horse racing trainer who was voted Trainer of the Year three times by New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. (NYTB). A native of Brooklyn, New York, Richard O'Connell most notably trained the filly Capades plus the colt Thunder Rumble who in 1992 became the first New York-bred horse in one hundred and twenty-five years to win the prestigious Travers Stakes and for whom the New York Stallion Series The New York Stallion Series was created by the New York Thoroughbred Breeders', Inc. Bishop Of Ardfert And Aghadoe
The Bishop of Ardfert and Aghadoe (usually simply referred to as the Bishop of Ardfert) was an episcopal title which took its name after the village of Ardfert and townland of Aghadoe, both in County Kerry, Republic of Ireland. History The diocese of Ráith Maighe Deiscirt was one of the twenty-four dioceses established at the Synod of Rathbreasail in 1111 and was co-extensive with the kingdom of Iarmuman; which consisted all of County Kerry and a small part of County Cork. The bishop's seat (Cathedra) was originally located at Rathass near Tralee, but by 1117, it had been moved to Ardfert Cathedral. At the Synod of Kells in 1152, the diocese lost some territory when the diocese of Scattery Island was established. After the Reformation, there were parallel apostolic successions.
