Richard Morgan (cricketer)
Richard Glen Morgan (born 24 July 1972 in Wellington) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Auckland and Northern Districts from 1993 to 2002. His father, Harry Morgan, played for Wellington from 1963 to 1978. Richard Morgan was a left-arm medium-pace bowler and right-handed tail-end batsman. His best bowling figures were 5 for 44, for Auckland against Northern Districts in 2000–01. He retired after the 2002–03 season. Northern Districts Knights
The Northern Districts men's cricket team are one of six New Zealand first-class cricket teams that make up New Zealand Cricket. They are based in the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand (excluding Auckland). They compete in the Plunket Shield first-class competition, the Ford Trophy domestic one-day competition and the Men's Super Smash T20 competition as the Northern Brave. The T20 team was previously known as the Northern Knights until the 2021–22 season, when both the men's and women's teams were rebranded under the same name. Henry Alan Morgan (born 5 June 1938) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Wellington from 1963 to 1978. Harry Morgan was a medium-pace bowler and useful lower-order batsman who was an irregular member of the Wellington team for 15 years. His best first-class bowling figures were 5 for 42 against Canterbury in 1966-67. His highest score was 67, also against Canterbury, in his second-last match in 1977-78. He won the Man of the Match award in the final of the New Zealand Motor Corporation Knock-Out in 1973-74. The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten wins in The Ford Trophy and the Super Smash four times. The side currently play their home games at Eden Park Outer Oval. The limited overs side, known as the Auckland Aces, have a predominantly light blue kit with a navy and white trim. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs.
