Richard Marshal, 3rd Earl Of Pembroke
Richard Marshal, 3rd Earl of Pembroke (119115 April 1234), was the son of William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke and brother of William Marshal, 2nd Earl of Pembroke, whom he succeeded to the Earldom of Pembroke and Lord Marshal of England upon his brother's death on 6 April 1231. Early life Richard was the son of William Marshal and his wife Countess Isabel. His father's biography calls Richard his 'second born child' after his elder brother William Marshal the younger, who was born in 1190. Like all of Marshal's sons he was educated to a high standard in the liberal arts. During his father's troubles in 1207 or 1208 with King John, Richard was demanded by the king as a hostage for his father. Though later liberated, he was required again by the king in 1212. Richard Marshall D.D. (1517 – in or after 1575) was an English clergyman and academic administrator at the University of Oxford. Marshall was elected Dean (head) of Christ Church, Oxford in 1553, a post he held until 1559. He was Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University during 1552–4. Life He is thought to have been the son of William Marshall, was said to be from Kent, and was a scholar of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, from 1532 until 1538. He graduated B.A. 5 December 1537, and his subsequent degrees were M.A. 5 October 1540, B.D. October 1544, and D.D. 18 July 1552. He became fellow of his college in 1538, but migrated to Christ Church about 1540, becoming a student there. At Corpus Marshall was Greek lecturer, and noted as a strong Roman Catholic traditionalist. He was one of the witnesses against John Dunne in October 1538. Major General Richard Jaquelin Marshall (16 June 1895 – 3 August 1973) was a senior officer in the United States Army. He served in the 1st Division during World War I and became the Chief of Staff of United States Army Forces in the Pacific Theater of Operations by the end of World War II. Early life Richard J. Marshall was born in Markham, Fauquier County, Virginia, on 16 June 1895, the son of Marion Lewis Marshall and his wife Rebecca Coke Marshall. His maternal grandfather, Richard Coke Marshall, was a colonel for the Confederacy in the Civil War, and great grandson of the first supreme court justice, John Marshall. Richard Thomas Marshall (born December 12, 1984) is a former American football cornerback. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the second round (58th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft. Richard Purvis Marshall (3 April 1818 – 15 August 1872) was a British pastoral squatter and high ranking Native Police officer in the colonies of New South Wales and Queensland. He was co-founder of the Gundi Windi cattle and sheep run which later evolved into the town of Goondiwindi. He was appointed to the Native Police in 1850 and became Commandant of the force in 1855. He retired from the Native Police in 1856 and held various Justice of the Peace and police magistrate roles in Goondiwindi until his death in 1872. Early life Richard Purvis Marshall was born in Hatherleigh, Devon, England in 1818. His father was Lieutenant Sampson B. Marshall of the Royal Navy and his mother was Mary Ann King.
