Richard Margolese
Richard Margolese, MD, CM FRCS (C), (born 30 July 1935) is a Canadian scientist and has been a leader of multiple research studies that have changed the standard treatment for early-stage breast cancer. He is a native of Montreal, Canada. He was a principal investigator and member of the Executive Committee of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast Project, which, in a series of studies demonstrated the effectiveness of lumpectomy, in combination with radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and/or hormonal therapy, over radical mastectomy as an effective treatment for many breast cancer patients. The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is one of the constituent faculties of McGill University.
