Richard M. Brewer
Richard M. "Dick" Brewer (February 19, 1850 – April 4, 1878), was an American cowboy and Lincoln County lawman. He was the founding leader of the ''Regulators'', a deputized posse that fought in the Lincoln County War. Early life Brewer was born on February 19, 1850, in St. Albans, Vermont. At the age of four, he and his family moved to Boaz, Wisconsin. He moved on to Missouri before arriving in Lincoln County, New Mexico. He tried farming as a profession, and bought a farm in Lincoln County with this in mind. In the spring of 1871, he began working for Lawrence Murphy, but soon left that job for unknown reasons. By 1876, he was working as a cattle foreman for cattleman John Tunstall, owner of one of the largest farms in the area. The Lincoln County War On February 18, 1878, Tunstall was murdered. Mescalero, New Mexico
Mescalero ( apm, Mashgal) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Otero County, New Mexico, United States, located on the Mescalero Apache Reservation. The population was 1,338 at the 2010 census. History The settlement was originally called Blazer's Mill, the location of a famous gunfight during the Lincoln County War. Geography Mescalero is located at (33.157440, -105.780482). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 17.9 square miles (46.3 km2), all land. Demographics As of the census of 2010, there were 1,338 people, 404 households, and 283 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 68.9 people per square mile (26.6/km2). There were 373 housing units at an average density of 20.9 per square mile (8.1/km2). In psychology, maturity can be operationally defined as the level of psychological functioning (measured through standards like the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children) one can attain, after which the level of psychological functioning no longer increases much with age. However, beyond this, integration is also an aspect of maturation, such as the integration of personality, where the behavioral patterns, motives and other traits of a person are gradually brought together, to work together effectively with little to no conflict between them, as an organized whole, e.g., bringing a person's various motives together into a purpose in life. Gunslingers Of The American Old West
Gunfighters, also called gunslingers (), or in the 19th and early 20th centuries gunmen, were individuals in the American Old West who gained a reputation of being dangerous with a gun and participated in gunfights and shootouts. Today, the term "gunslinger" is more or less used to denote someone who is quick on the draw with a pistol, but can also refer to riflemen and shotgun messengers. The gunfighter is also one of the most popular characters in the Western genre and has appeared in associated films, video games, and literature. The gunfighter could be a lawman, outlaw, cowboy, or shooting exhibitionist, but was more commonly a hired gun who made a living with his weapons in the Old West. ''Young Guns'' is a 1988 American biographical Western film directed by Christopher Cain and written by John Fusco. The film is the first to be produced by Morgan Creek Productions. Charlie Bowdre
Charles Bowdre (1848 – December 23, 1880) was an American cowboy and outlaw. He was an associate of Billy the Kid and member of his gang. Early life Bowdre was born in Wilkes County, Georgia. When he was three years old, he and his parents moved to Mississippi. By 1854, young Charlie started working in his father's farm, and as he grew up became an adept farmer. Much of what Bowdre did between the year in which his last sister was born (1863) and 1874, remains a mystery. It is believed, however, that he abandoned the family's farm to become a wanderer. Records show that by 1874, he had arrived at Lincoln County, New Mexico. Bowdre became friends with Doc Scurlock during this time, and the two men opened a cheese factory on the Gila River. George Coe (Lincoln County War)
George Washington Coe (1856–1941) was an Old West cowboy and a gunman during the Lincoln County War. Early years George Washington Coe was born in Brighton, Iowa, in 1856. He moved to New Mexico Territory with his cousin, Frank Coe, around 1871 to work on a ranch near Fort Stanton belonging to another cousin. For a time they lived near Raton, New Mexico. The two often rode in pursuit of cattle rustlers and horse thieves. Gunfight Of Blazer's Mills
The Gunfight at Blazer's Mill (April 4, 1878) was a shootout between what were known as the Lincoln County Regulators and buffalo hunter Buckshot Roberts. The gunfight The Regulators, including Billy the Kid, Charlie Bowdre, and led by Richard "Dick" Brewer, were in the process of hunting down anyone believed to have been associated with the murder of John Tunstall, which had sparked the Lincoln County War.
