Richard Lowenstein
Richard Lowenstein (born 1 March 1959) is an Australian filmmaker. He has written, produced and directed: feature films, including '' Strikebound'' (1984), ''Dogs in Space'' (1986) and ''He Died with a Felafel in His Hand'' (2001); music videos for bands such as INXS and U2; concert performance films, '' Australian Made: The Movie'' (1987) and '' U2: LoveTown'' (1989); and TV adverts. Biography Richard Lowenstein was born on 1 March 1959 in Melbourne. His mother was the author, oral historian, and activist, Wendy Lowenstein (née Katherin Wendy Robertson, 1927–2006). His father is Werner Lowenstein, also an activist, who had fled Nazi Germany to United Kingdom and was relocated to Australia in 1940 as one of the ''Dunera'' boys. Brinsley Road Community School
Brinsley Road Community School was a state-run high school (years 7-12) in the suburb of Camberwell, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The school was established in February 1973 under the umbrella of Camberwell High School with the support of Camberwell High School's progressive principal Margaret Essex. The school was formally referred to by the Education Department as the "Camberwell High Annex". School philosophy and history The concept for the school was developed by Roy Irvine, its initial coordinator, who convinced Mr Schrum, then Director of Secondary Schools in Victoria, of the need for the alternative form of education that the school would offer. The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) formerly Australian Film and Television School, is Australia's national screen arts and broadcast school. The school is a Commonwealth Government statutory authority. History Established in 1972 as the Australian Film and Television School, as part of the Commonwealth Government's strategy to promote the development of Australia's cultural activity, AFTRS was opened to students in 1973, with the first intake of 12 students including directors Gillian Armstrong, Phillip Noyce and Chris Noonan. Brian Timothy Finn (born 25 June 1952) is a New Zealand singer and musician. Hunters & Collectors
Hunters & Collectors are an Australian rock band formed in 1981. Fronted by founding mainstay, singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Seymour, they developed a blend of Pub rock (Australia), pub rock and funk, art-funk. Other mainstays are John Archer on bass guitar, Doug Falconer on drums and percussion. Soon after forming they were joined by Jack Howard on trumpet and keyboards, Jeremy Smith (Australian musician), Jeremy Smith on French horn, guitars and keyboards, and Michael Waters on trombone and keyboards. Also acknowledged as a founder was audio engineering, engineer and art director, art designer Robert Miles. Sam Sejavka
Samuel Marcus Sejavka (born 2 April 1960) is an Australian writer, actor and musician. He was lead vocalist for post punk bands The Ears (1979–81) and Beargarden (1982–86). He and the Ears were the inspiration for the 1986 film, ''Dogs in Space''. The main character, Sam, was played by INXS vocalist Michael Hutchence. Early life Sejavka was born in 1960 in Melbourne. His father, Vilis Sejavka (1923–1980), was a labourer from Lasupag, Latvia, and a former conscript for the Latvian Legion during World War 2. Vilis migrated to Australia in September 1948 via SS ''Wooster Victory''. He settled in Melbourne and became an Australian citizen in July 1954. Sejavka grew up in Mount Waverley, where he attended Holy Family Primary, a Catholic school. Sejavka spent most of his early working life singing and composing music.
