Richard Lee (surgeon)
Richard Lee is a cardiac surgeon in St. Louis, Missouri, who helped pioneer a staged Hybrid Maze, a procedure for atrial fibrillation or AFIB. combining surgery and catheter based approaches. He was the vice chair of surgery at Saint Louis University and co-director of the Center for Comprehensive Cardiovascular Care at Saint Louis University Hospital. Education Lee received a B.A. from Northwestern University in 1988. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1993 with his M.D. degree. Lee completed his internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin and his residencies at Rush University Medical Center and Washington University School of Medicine. He finished a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Adult Cardiac Surgery and Heart Transplantation in 2003. During his surgical training, he spent two years in the research lab of James L. Cox, MD.
