Richard Hudson (American Politician)
Richard Lane Hudson Jr. (born November 4, 1971) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for North Carolina's 9th congressional district since 2013 (previously numbered the 8th district). A member of the Republican Party, his district covers a large part of the southern Piedmont area from Concord to Spring Lake. Early life and education Hudson was born in Franklin, Virginia, but has lived in the Charlotte area since childhood. He graduated from Myers Park High School in 1990. He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and graduated Omicron Delta Kappa in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in political science and history. He also served as student body president and president of the College Republicans, and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order social fraternity. Richard Anthony Hudson FBA (born 18 September 1939) is a British linguist. He is best known for Word Grammar, a wide-ranging theory of syntax. Life Hudson is the son of the horticulturalist and bomb-disposal officer John Pilkington Hudson. He has lived in England for most of his life (with three years in New Zealand, 1945–1948). He studied linguistics at Loughborough Grammar School in Leicestershire (1948–1958), Corpus Christi College, Cambridge (1958–1961) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (Ph.D., 1961–1964). Richard Hudson (musician)
Richard William Stafford Hudson (born 9 May 1948) is an English musician who played drums and sitar for the Strawbs. He later joined forces with bassist John Ford to form a duo, Hudson and Ford, in which he played guitar and sang. Career Richard Hudson was a member of Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, in which he played drums and sitar and sang. In 1970, he and band-mate John Ford joined Strawbs. Hudson and Ford began to co-write material which appeared to be aiming in a slightly different direction to the compositions of Strawbs' main writer, Dave Cousins. In 1973 after a 52-date tour to promote the album Bursting at the Seams, there were acrimonious exchanges (which both parties now regret). Hudson and Ford left to form Hudson Ford. Richard Hudson (New Zealand Politician)
Richard Phineas Hudson (1860 – 2 May 1953) was a Reform Party Member of Parliament in New Zealand. Born in Ireland, he was a tea planter in British Ceylon before becoming a fruit grower in New Zealand. Early life Hudson was born in Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland in 1860. He received his education at Wills Grammar School, at Fermoy College, and at Crawford's Military Academy. For seven years, he served in the Royal Artillery Militia and gained the rank of captain. He then lived in Ceylon for 23 years, where he had tea and coffee plantations, and where he was chairman of the Haputale Planters' Association. He was credited with uniting the Ceylon tea-growers, them agreeing to pay a tax to an industry body that would be used to market Ceylon tea in overseas markets. Richard Hudson (born 1954, Yorkshire, United Kingdom) is a British Sculptor whose organic sculptures are shown internationally and collected widely. Biography He began working with sculpture at a relatively late age after many years of traveling. He is best known for his work in polished mirrored steel, bronze and marble with a number of Monumental works on public display. His "work on the female figure but has of late worked with an abstract expression. His soft lines and voluptuous, nearly bombastic style combined with inspiration from Modernism’s great names like Henry Moore, Jean Arp and Constantin Brancusi rocketed his career forward." Richard Hudson (born 9 June 1954) is a Zimbabwean stage designer best known for his work for ''The Lion King'', which won him the Tony Award for Best Scenic Design and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design. He studied at Wimbledon School of Art. Hudson is also a Royal Designer for Industry. He won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Set Design for his work at The Old Vic, the Gold Medal for Set Design at the 2003 Prague Quadriennale, and an honorary doctorate from the University of Surrey in 2005. Dick Hudson (American Football, Born 1940)
Richard Smith "Bill" Hudson (July 30, 1940 – March 2, 2016) was an American football player who was a starting offensive lineman at Memphis State University for four years. In 1961, he was a second-round draft pick by the American Football League's San Diego Chargers. Traded to the AFL's Buffalo Bills in 1963, he was a part of the 1964 and 1965 AFL Championship teams. Hudson was an AFL Eastern Division All-Star in 1965 and in 1970 was named to the Buffalo Bills Team of the 1960s Decade. Retiring from pro football, he returned to Paris, Tennessee and served as assistant and head coach of the Henry County High School Patriots football team and vice principal of the high school.
