Richard Hoskin
Richard Neville Hoskin (born 18 October 1959) is a former first-class cricketer who played for Otago from 1980 to 1993. Since his retirement from the game he has worked as a sports administrator and businessman. Playing career A right-handed batsman who usually batted at number three or four, Hoskin, who was born at Invercargill in 1959, played his first match for Southland in the sub-first-class Hawke Cup in 1977–78. At the age of 19 he was appointed to captain the team in 1978–79. He made his first-class debut for Otago in 1980–81, and remained a fixture in the side until his retirement after the 1992–93 season. In his fourth match, against Northern Districts, he scored 57 (Otago's top score), and his first century, 117 (out of a team total of 196 for 8). He toured Zimbabwe with a Young New Zealand team in 1984–85 but played in only one of the four matches. It was his only first-class match for a team other than Otago. Invercargill
Invercargill ( , mi, Waihōpai is the southernmost and westernmost city in New Zealand, and one of the southernmost cities in the world. It is the commercial centre of the Southland region. Auckland Cricket Team
The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten wins in The Ford Trophy and the Super Smash four times. The side currently play their home games at Eden Park Outer Oval. The limited overs side, known as the Auckland Aces, have a predominantly light blue kit with a navy and white trim. Their One Day Championship shirt sponsors are Ford whilst their major T20 sponsor is Mondiale. Arrowtown (Māori: ''Haehaenui'') is a historic gold mining town in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. Arrowtown is located on the banks of the Arrow River approximately 7.5 km from State Highway 6. Arrowtown is located 19.5 kilometres to the east of Queenstown. Southland Cricket Association
The Southland cricket team represents the Southland Region of New Zealand. They compete in the Hawke Cup. Early history Southland first played interprovincial cricket in 1864, and often played against touring teams from Australia, Fiji and England. The Southland Cricket Association was formed in 1892, leading to an increase in representative matches, including the annual match against Otago, which began in 1893–94 and continued until the 1980s. In 1910–11 Southland were the first winners of the Hawke Cup. They retained it in 1911–12 but surrendered it in 1912–13 when they did not take part.
