Richard Herrmann (journalist)
Fritz Richard Herrmann, MBE (11 September 1919 – 14 June 2010) was a Norwegian journalist, writer and radio personality. Born and raised in Larvik, Herrmann graduated in 1939, and subsequently studied philology at University of Oslo. In 1941 he was offered a job with Norsk Telegrambyrå, an offer he reluctantly accepted, as it required all new employees to join Nasjonal Samling. He left the company after a few weeks. In 1952, he was employed by the Reuters newsagency in London, where he stayed until 1964. From 1961 he was the editor for Reuters UK operation. From 1964 to 1977 he was employed by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation as their correspondent in London. He later worked in Norway and was charged with developing the new radio channel NRK P2 in the early 1980s. In 1984 he retired from radio and TV, but he continued to write until he was almost 75 years old. Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. Recommendations for appointments to the Order of the British Empire were originally made on the nomination of the United Kingdom, the self-governing Dominions of the Empire (later Commonwealth) and the Viceroy of India. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Paper editions 1978–2007 The ''SNL'' was created in 1978, when the two publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal merged their encyclopedias and created the company Kunnskapsforlaget. Karin Sveen
Karin Sveen (born 17 August 1948) is a Norwegian poet, novelist and essayist. Early and personal life Sveen was born in Hamar. She attended Hamar Cathedral School, and studied at the teachers' college at Hamar and the University of Oslo. She worked as schoolteacher from 1975 to 1979, and thereafter as writer full time. Literary career Sveen made her literary debut in 1975 with the poetry collection ''Vinterhagen''. Critics compared her with poet Hans Børli, mentioning similar relation to nature, plants and animals. In her next collection, ''Mjøsa går'' from 1976, she wrote poetry using Hedmark dialect. Rune Belsvik (born 14 April 1956) is a Norwegian novelist, playwright, short story writer and children's writer. Belsvik was born in Stord. Otto Øgrim
Øgrim in 1995 Johan Otto Øgrim (1 October 1913 – 6 December 2006) was a Norwegian physicist. Personal life Øgrim was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, as a son of Tobias Immanuel Øgrim (1886-1962), leader of the Salvation Army in Norway, and salvationist Othonie Margrethe Olsen (1879–1972). He spent his childhood years in Kristiania, Bærum and Hamar. In 1938 he married Marit Odlaug Eggen (1915-2008), a daughter of Albert Fredrik Eggen and granddaughter of Lorents Mørkved. Their son Tron Øgrim became an author and political activist. Otto Øgrim's sister married Brynjulf Bull. Otto Øgrim was also the grandfather of rappers Elling and Aslak Borgersrud in Gatas Parlament. Jahn Otto Johansen (3 May 1934 – 1 January 2018) was a Norwegian journalist, newspaper editor, foreign correspondent and non-fiction writer. He worked for the newspaper '' Morgenposten'' from 1956 to 1966, for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) from 1966 to 1977, and was chief editor of ''Dagbladet'' from 1977 to 1984. Bjørg Vik (11 September 1935 – 7 January 2018) was a Norwegian novelist, short story writer, playwright, and journalist. Biography Bjørg Turid Vik was born in Oslo, Norway. Her parents were Sverre Thorbjørn Johansen (1903–1958) and Anna Sofie Marcussen (1902–1987). She grew up in the neighborhood of St. Hanshaugen in Oslo. She completed her ''examen artium'' at Hegdehaugen School in 1954 and attended the Journalist Academy in Oslo from 1955 to 1956. From 1956 to 1960, she was a journalist for the newspaper '' Porsgrunns Dagblad''. She made her literary debut in 1963 with the short story collection ''Søndag ettermiddag''. Per Egil Hegge
Per Egil Hegge (born 6 March 1940) is a Norwegian journalist. Hegge was born in Trondheim as a son of two teachers from Skatval. The family moved to Inderøy in 1941. He served his military service at the elite Russian language program of the Norwegian Armed Forces. He started his career in the Norwegian News Agency, and was hired in ''Aftenposten'' in 1962 and remained there for the rest of his career. He was the newspaper's London correspondent from 1963 to 1965, and then worked in Norway (winning the Narvesen Prize in 1968) before becoming Moscow correspondent from 1969 to 1971. He was then expelled from the country, one of the reasons for this being that he was the first journalist to interview Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn after he won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1970. After another six years in Norway from 1971 to 1977 Hegge was the Washington DC correspondent from 1977 to 1981.
