Richard Foerster (poet)
Richard Foerster (born October 29, 1949) is an American poet and the author of eight collections. His most recent poetry collection is ''Boy on a Doorstep: New and Selected Poems'' ( Tiger Bark Press, 2019), and his poems have appeared in literary journals and magazines including ''Poetry'', ''The Nation'', ''The New England Review'', ''Prairie Schooner'', ''TriQuarterly'', ''The Kenyon Review'', ''Shenandoah'', ''The Southern Review''. His honors include two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts,National Endowment of the Arts 2011 Poetry Fellows a Maine Arts Commission Fellowship, and the Amy Lowell Poetry Travelling Scholarship. Eliot, Maine
Eliot is a town in York County, Maine, United States. Originally settled in 1623, it was formerly a part of Kittery, Maine, to its east. After Kittery, it is the next most southern town in the state of Maine, lying on the Piscataqua River across from Portsmouth and Newington, New Hampshire. The population was 6,717 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Portland– South Portland–Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area. Eliot is home to Ambush Rock, Green Acre, and the Raitt Homestead Farm Museum. The Amy Lowell Poetry Travelling Scholarship is given annually to a U.S.-born poet to spend one year outside North America in a country the recipient feels will most advance his or her work. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that offers support and funding for projects exhibiting artistic excellence.
