Richard Fisher Belward
Richard Fisher Belward (5 September 1746 – 16 May 1803) was an English priest and academic. He was born Richard Fisher, adopting the name Belward in 1791. Fisher was born in Long Stratton, Suffolk, the son of Richard Fisher, a surgeon. His schoolmaster at both Botesdale School and Thetford Grammar School was John Cole Gallaway. He was admitted to Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge in January 1765, aged 18, graduating Bachelor of Arts, BA (Wrangler (University of Cambridge), 9th wrangler) 1769, Master of Arts (Oxford, Cambridge, and Dublin), MA 1772, Doctor of Divinity, DD 1796. He was ordained deacon in 1769 and priest in 1772. He gained a fellowship at Caius in 1769, served as President of Fellows 1790–1795, Master of the college 1795–1803, and List of Vice-Chancellors of the University of Cambridge, Vice-Chancellor of the University in 1796. Richard Virgil “Dick” Fisher also known as 'R.V.' (8 August 1928 – 8 June 2002) was an American volcanologist and Professor of Geology at University of California, Santa Barbara. Early life Fisher was born in Whittier, California in 1928. He left High School to join the US Army in 1946, and was assigned to the Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico, but then volunteered for duty at Bikini Atoll, in the Pacific. He was present onboard USS Haven (AH-12), USS ''Haven'' for the first two Nuclear testing at Bikini Atoll, nuclear tests at Bikini atoll: Operation Crossroads, ''Able'', on 1 July, 1946, which was an air blast; and Operation Crossroads, ''Baker'', on 25 July 1946, which was a submarine detonation. Richard Metcalfe Fisher known as Dick Fisher (13 January 1933 – 30 November 1986) was an international motorcycle speedway rider from England. Speedway career Fisher reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1963 Individual Speedway World Championship and 1964 Individual Speedway World Championship. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1953 to 1966, riding for Belle Vue Aces. Fisher was capped by the England national speedway team once and Great Britain four times. Fisher King
The Fisher King is a figure in Arthurian legend, the last in a long line of British kings tasked with guarding the Holy Grail. The Fisher King is both the protector and physical embodiment of his lands, but a wound renders him incapable and his kingdom barren. Unable to walk or ride a horse, he is sometimes depicted as spending his time fishing while he awaits a "chosen one" who can heal him. Versions of the story vary widely, but the Fisher King is typically depicted as being wounded in the groin, legs or thigh, rendering him infertile. The healing of these wounds always depends upon the completion of a hero-knight's task. Most versions of the story contain the Holy Grail and the Lance of Longinus as plot elements. In some versions, a third character is introduced. This individual, unlike the hero-knight archetype, is ignorant of the King's power, but has the ability to save the king and land, or to doom it.
