Richard Dalton (born 27 August 1979) is an Ireland, Irish-born, Canadians, Canadian canoe racing, sprint canoeist. He has won three bronze medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships (C-1 200 m: 2010 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, 2010 - tied with Ukraine's Yuriy Cheban, C-1 1000 m: 2005 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, 2005, C-2 1000 m: 2002 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, 2002). He also won a C-2 silver medal at the 2000 world marathon championships in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The distance at a marathon event varies between 36 and 40 km. Dalton competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, earning sixth place in both the Canoeing at the 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's C-1 500 metres, C-1 500 m and Canoeing at the 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's C-1 1000 metres, C-1 1000 m events. Richard Neil Dalton (born 11 August 1965) is a former English cricketer. Dalton was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium. He was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Dalton made his debut for Bedfordshire in the 1991 Minor Counties Championship against Suffolk. He played Minor counties cricket for Bedfordshire from 1991 to 2001, which included 59 Minor Counties Championship matches and 26 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. He made his List A debut for Bedfordshire against Warwickshire in the 1994 NatWest Trophy. He played 3 further List A matches for Bedfordshire, the last coming against the Somerset Cricket Board in the 1999 NatWest Trophy. As an all-rounder, Dalton scored 76 runs at a batting average of 19.00, with a high score of 56. With the ball, he took 6 wickets at a bowling average of 20.66, with best figures of 2/32. Sir Richard John Dalton (born 10 October 1948) was a senior member of the British Diplomatic Service until he retired in 2006. His assignments included British Ambassador to Libya and Iran. He is currently an Associate Fellow at Chatham House's Middle East and North Africa Programme. He was knighted in the 2005 Queen's Birthday Honours. Diplomatic career Richard Dalton was educated at Winchester College and Magdalene College, Cambridge. He joined HM Diplomatic Service in 1970, went to study Arabic at MECAS in the Lebanon and was posted as Second Secretary to Amman in 1973. His next posting was as Second Secretary, later First Secretary, to UKMIS New York in 1975, and he returned to the FCO four years later. He was president of Keep/Track Corporation (Falmouth, Massachusetts)when he died of prostate cancer on Oct. 24 2016, age 76. For nine years he was a research affiliate of the Institute for the Future in Menlo Park, California specializing in emerging technologies and their business and social implications. He was a featured columnist for ''InformationWeek'' and ''Windows Magazine'', and also wrote a column for Byte.com. Richard Dalton (c. 1715 - 1791) was an English draughtsman, engraver, and royal librarian. He later became an art dealer. Life Born about 1715, he was the younger son of the Rev. John Dalton of Whitehaven in Cumberland; John Dalton, D.D., the poet, was his elder brother. He trained as an artist, and went to Rome to pursue his studies. In 1749 Dalton travelled with Roger Kynaston and John Frederick to Naples, South Italy, and Sicily, where they joined a party consisting of James Caulfeild, 1st Earl of Charlemont, Francis Pierpoint Burton, and others. Dalton then accompanied Charlemont on his tour to Constantinople, Greece, and Egypt. Dalton managed to obtain the position of librarian to George III when the future king was Prince of Wales, and, after the king's accession, continued in his post through the favour of the Earl of Bute.
