Richard D. Adams
Richard Donald Adams (June 14, 1909September 5, 1987) was an American officer in the United States Navy who served during World War II, and attained the rank of Rear Admiral. Adams was also known as the first husband of actress Martha O'Driscoll, with the union ending in a well publicised divorce. Early life Adams was born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, son of Arthur D. and Mary Adams (née Patterson). After graduating from Ambridge High School in 1927, Adams attended the Bellefonte Academy. In 1929 Adams received his appointment to the United States Naval Academy and graduated with the class of 1932. Junior Officer After his graduation from Annapolis, Adams was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy. Ambridge, Pennsylvania
Ambridge is a borough in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States. Incorporated in 1905 as a company town by the American Bridge Company, Ambridge is located 16 miles (25 km) northwest of Pittsburgh, along the Ohio River. The population was 6,960 at the 2020 census. History Early history The town is near the location of Legionville, the training camp for General "Mad" Anthony Wayne's Legion of the United States. Wayne's was the first attempt to provide basic training for regular U.S. Army recruits and Legionville was the first facility established expressly for this purpose. The Harmony Society first settled the area in the early 19th century, founding the village of "Ökonomie" or Economy in 1824. Arthur I
Arthur I ( br, Arzhur 1añ; french: link=no, Arthur 1er de Bretagne) (29 March 1187 – presumably 1203) was 4th Earl of Richmond and Duke of Brittany between 1196 and 1203. He was the posthumous son of Geoffrey II, Duke of Brittany, and Constance, Duchess of Brittany. His father, Geoffrey, was the son of Henry II, King of England. In 1190 Arthur was designated heir to the throne of England and its French territory by his uncle, Richard I, the intent being that Arthur would succeed Richard in preference to Richard's younger brother John. Nothing is recorded of Arthur after his incarceration in Rouen Castle in 1203, and while his precise fate is unknown, it is generally believed he was killed by John. The United States Naval Academy (USNA) is an undergraduate college in Annapolis, Maryland with the mission of educating and commissioning officers for the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans is a base of the United States military located in Belle Chasse, unincorporated Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, United States.
