Richard Best (film Editor)
Richard Best (28 June 1916 – 19 December 2004) was a British film editor and television editor. He had about 50 feature film credits, and also edited the 1965-66 season of the television series ''The Avengers''. He is known particularly for three films: '' The Dam Busters'' (1955), '' Ice Cold in Alex'' (1958), and '' Look Back in Anger'' (1959), as well as for his long collaboration with director J. Michael Joseph Anderson (30 January 1920 – 25 April 2018) was an English film director, best known for directing the World War II film '' The Dam Busters'' (1955), the epic ''Around the World in 80 Days'' (1956) and the dystopian sci-fi film ''Logan's Run'' (1976). Early life and education Anderson was born in London, United Kingdom, to a theatrical family. His parents were the actors Lawrence (1893–1939) and Beatrice Anderson (1893–1977). His great-aunt was Mary Anderson of Louisville, Kentucky, who became one of the first US Shakespearean actresses; the Mary Anderson Theatre in Louisville was dedicated to her. ''No Trees in the Street'' is a 1959 British crime thriller directed by J. Lee Thompson and written by Ted Willis, from his 1948 stage play of the same name. The film is set in the slums of London. It depicts the life of impoverished teenager Tommy, who becomes a criminal in an attempt at social mobility. He starts with minor thefts and progresses to murder. David MacDonald (director)
David MacDonald (9 May 1904 in Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire – 22 June 1983 in London) was a Scottish film director, writer and producer. Career MacDonald was the son of a wealthy landowner. His intention was to become a doctor but changed his mind and aged 17 went to Malaya to work on a rubber plantation for seven and a half years. Roy Kellino (born Philip Roy Gislingham; 22 April 1912 – 18 November 1956) was an English film director, film producer, producer and cinematographer. Biography He was born Philip Roy Gislingham in Lambeth, South London, the son of the silent-era director W.P. Kellino. He directed his first film ''Concerning Mr. Martin'' in 1937. He worked primarily in the years during the Second World War, venturing into television in the 1950s, directing many episodes of popular anthology series ''Four Star Playhouse'', along with episodes of other anthologies like ''The Star and the Story''. ''Yield to the Night'' (also titled ''Blonde Sinner'' in the US) is a 1956 British crime drama film directed by J. Lee Thompson and starring Diana Dors. The film is based on the 1954 novel of the same name by Joan Henry. The storyline bears a superficial and coincidental resemblance to the Ruth Ellis case, which had occurred the previous year but subsequent to the release of Henry's novel. Mario Zampi (1 November 19032 December 1963) was an Italian film producer and director. A co-founder of Two Cities Films, a British production company, he is most closely associated with British comedies of the 1950s.
