Richard Bailey (historian)
Richard Bailey (born October 29, 1947) is an American historian. He has written history books about Alabama during the Reconstruction era and its African American leaders. His book ''Neither Carpetbaggers Nor Scalawags'' about African American officials in Alabama during the Reconstruction era was selected by the Alabama Board of Education as a supplemental school text, only the second time a book authored by an African American has been so designated in the state. He has also helped organize efforts to erect historical markers at significant sites. He also leads black history tours. A native of Montgomery, Alabama, he grew up in the Centennial Hill neighborhood. He is one of Raymond Bailey Sr. and Lottie Parks Bailey's 12 children. He studied at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School and Alabama State University, graduating in 1966. Bailey retired from a 30-year civil service career in 2011. Richard William Bailey
Richard William Bailey FRS (6 January 1885 – 4 September 1957) was a British mechanical engineer and research engineer. Bailey served his apprenticeship at the Stratford works of the London and North Eastern Railway Company, and during this time he gained a Whitworth Exhibition and a Whitworth Scholarship, as well as being made the first ‘Director’s Scholar’. He became in 1907 a college apprentice in electrical engineering at British Westinghouse's Trafford Park works. Bailey was appointed in 1908 as a lecturer in mechanical engineering at Battersea Polytechnic, London and then in 1912 the Principal of Crewe Technical Institute (subsequently renamed Crewe University Technical College). Horse Murders
The show jumping horse killings scandal refers to cases of insurance fraud in the United States in which expensive horses, many of them show jumpers, were insured against death, accident, or disease, and then killed to collect the insurance money. It is not known how many horses were killed in this manner between the mid-1970s and the mid-1990s, when a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigation brought the horse killings to light, but the number is thought to be well over 50, and may have been as high as 100. In addition, in 1977, the heiress Helen Brach disappeared and was presumed by law enforcement agents to have been murdered by the perpetrators of these crimes, because she threatened to report their criminal activity to authorities; continuing investigations into Brach's death began to uncover the insurance fraud in the 1990s. Trapeze were an English rock band from Cannock, Staffordshire. Formed in March 1969, the band originally featured former The Montanas members John Jones (vocals, trumpet) and Terry Rowley (keyboards, guitar, flute), as well as former Finders Keepers members Mel Galley (guitar, vocals), Glenn Hughes (bass, piano, vocals) and Dave Holland (drums). After the band released their self-titled debut album in May 1970, Jones and Rowley left to return to The Montanas. Hughes, Galley and Holland released ''Medusa'' later in the year and '' You Are the Music... We're Just the Band'' in 1972, before Hughes left to join Deep Purple in June 1973. Coronado (Spanish for "Crowned") is a resort city located in San Diego County, California, United States, across the San Diego Bay from downtown San Diego.
