Richard Arnold (chronicler)
Richard Arnold (died ca. 1521), was an English antiquary and chronicler. Arnold was a citizen of London, dwelling in the parish of St Magnus, London Bridge. It would appear from his own book that he was a merchant trading with Flanders. He was an executor of the will of John Amell the elder, citizen and cutler of London, which was drawn up in 1473, and he is there described as a haberdasher. He was in the habit, for purposes of business, of paying visits to Flanders, and was in 1488 confined in the Castle of Sluys on suspicion of being a spy. He was apparently hard pressed by creditors at one period of his life, and sought shelter in the sanctuary at Westminster. He had a wife named Alice and a son Nicholas. The date of his death is uncertain. Francis Douce, who fully investigated the matter, concluded that he died shortly after the publication of the last edition of his book, in 1520-1. Richard Arnold (born 26 April 1971) is a British accountant who was chief executive officer of Manchester United. He succeeded Ed Woodward in this role on 1 February 2022. Education Arnold was educated at King's School, Chester and the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1993. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996. He currently serves as a Governor of King's School, Chester. Richard Arnold (April 12, 1828 – November 8, 1882) was a career U.S. Army officer who served as a brigadier general in the Union forces during the American Civil War. His artillery helped force the surrender of two important Confederate towns, including Mobile, Alabama. Early life and background Arnold was the son of Rhode Island governor and United States congressman Lemuel Arnold, was born in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1828, graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1850. His classmates included Eugene A. Carr and Cuvier Grover, who would serve alongside him in the Trans-Mississippi Theater during the Civil War. Sir Richard David Arnold (born 23 June 1961) styled the Rt Hon Lord Justice Arnold is a Judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales. Arnold was educated at Highgate School and Magdalen College, Oxford, before gaining a diploma in law from the University of Westminster. He was called to the bar in 1985 and made a silk in 2000. He was appointed to the High Court Chancery Division in 2008 becoming the judge in charge of the Patent Court in April 2013. He was promoted to the Court of Appeal on 1 October 2019. Richard Josef Arnold (born 11 January 1959) is a German politician. A member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, he has served as the Lord Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) of Schwäbisch Gmünd since 2009 and is the town's first openly gay mayor. As mayor, he has pushed for opening up the city to refugees. Previously, Arnold was the head of the State Agency of Baden-Württemberg to the European Union. The Corkbush Field Mutiny (or Ware Mutiny) occurred on 15 November 1647, during the early stages of the Second English Civil War at the Corkbush Field rendezvous, when soldiers were ordered to sign a declaration of loyalty to Thomas Fairfax, the commander-in-chief of the New Model Army (NMA), and the Army Council.
