Ricardo Medina (footballer)
Ricardo Medina DeLeon (born November 4, 1971) is a former minor league baseball player and manager who currently coaches in the minors. He has also coached for Panama in multiple international events, including the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He is the brother of former major league baseball pitcher Rafael Medina. Playing career Medina was a corner infielder who played in the Chicago Cubs organization from 1989 to 1994. He began his professional career with the Wytheville Cubs in 1989, playing in 51 games and hitting .264 in 163 at-bats. In 1990, he played 41 games for the Geneva Cubs, hitting .222 in 90 at-bats. He split the 1991 season between Geneva and the Peoria Chiefs, hitting a combined .292 in 73 games. He spent both 1992 and 1993 with Peoria. In the former season, he hit .263 with five home runs and five stolen bases in 457 at-bats. He also had 60 walks and only 58 strikeouts. Peoria Chiefs
The Peoria Chiefs are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. The team was established in 1983 as the Peoria Suns. They are located in Peoria, Illinois, and are named for the Peoria Indian tribe for which the city was named. In 2005, the team replaced the indigenous imagery associated with the Chiefs name and moved to a logo of a Dalmatian depicted as a fire chief. The South Bend Cubs are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. They are located in South Bend, Indiana, and play their home games at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. The team was originally known as the South Bend White Sox from 1988 to 1993 during their affiliation with the Chicago White Sox, a partnership that lasted until 1997. They were called the South Bend Silver Hawks from 1994 to 2014. From 1998 to 2014, they were affiliates of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Wytheville is a town in, and the county seat of, Wythe County, in southwestern Virginia, United States. The 2007 Baseball World Cup (BWC) was the 37th international Men's amateur baseball tournament. The tournament was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation, which titled it the Amateur World Series from the 1938 tournament through the 1986 AWS.
