Ricardo López (boxer)
Ricardo López Nava (born July 25, 1966) is a Mexican former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2001. He was a two-weight world champion, having held the WBC mini flyweight title from 1990 to 1998, defending it against a record-breaking 21 opponents; the WBA and WBO mini flyweight titles between 1997 and 1998; and the IBF junior flyweight title from 1999 until his retirement in 2001. He is one of just fifteen world boxing champions to retire without a loss. He is the father of undefeated former boxer Alonso López. Amateur career López would win four consecutive Guantes de Oro de México Championships from 1981 to 1984. Ricardo López Bello (born 13 February 1937 in Cabrui, A Coruña, Galicia, Spain) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a businessman by trade. He represented the Quebec riding of Châteauguay where he was first elected in the 1984 federal election and re-elected in 1988, therefore becoming a member in the 33rd and 34th Canadian Parliaments. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party. He did not serve in the cabinet under PC prime ministers Brian Mulroney or Kim Campbell. His main claim to fame in the House of Commons was that when he rose to address the assembly, both English and French interpreters would immediately start to try to decipher his speech due to his thick accent. Ricardo López Aranda (20 December 1934 – 25 November 1996) was a Spanish playwright, born in Santander in 1934. In 1941 his family home was destroyed by the Santander fire. In 1958 he received the National University Theater Prize for his playNunca amanecerá and published a version of Oedipus (also titledLa Esfinge sin Secreto). In 1960, his workCerca de las estrellas received the National Calderón de la Barca Theater prize and in 1961 the Aguilar prize. The play was presented at the National Teatro María Guerrero that same year and taken to the cinema in 1962. Ricardo Ramón López Jordán (1822–1889) was an Argentine soldier and politician, one of the last influential "''caudillos''" (Spanish for "leaders", or military or political strongmen) in the history of Argentina. He thrice rebelled against the government of Buenos Aires and was defeated in each attempt. Beginnings López Jordán was born in Paysandú, in present-day Uruguay, in August 1822, son of the Argentine general of the same name, a former governor of the Argentine province of Entre Ríos who found himself living in Paysandú as an exile. Ricardo López Méndez (7 February 1903 – 28 December 1989) was a Mexican poet and song lyricist. He was born in Izamal, Yucatán. He became director of the Public Library and an advisor to Felipe Carrillo Puerto, governor of Yucatán from 1922 to 1924. In 1927 he moved to Mexico City as a representative of the government of Yucatán. He was a founder of the radio station XEW (and others across Mexico) and a pioneer of the use of radio to access rural populations. Ricardo Hipólito López Murphy (born 10 August 1951) is an Argentine economist, academic and politician. He served as Minister of Defense and Minister of Economy during the presidency of Fernando de la Rúa. His time at the helm of the economy portfolio lasted only 15 days, as he was forced to leave office after announcing an unpopular austerity plan. Since 2021, he has been a National Deputy elected in Buenos Aires for the Juntos por el Cambio coalition.
