Ricardo Dalmau
Ricardo Dalmau Santana (born August 27, 1977 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico) is the youngest of three children of the legendary basketball player Raymond Dalmau. He began his professional basketball career in 1995 with the Polluelos de Aibonito, under the coaching of his father. That year he earned the Puerto Rican League's ''Rookie of the Year Award''. The next year, he joined his eldest brother Richie in the Piratas de Quebradillas, the basketball team where his father spent his entire career. Alongside his brother Richie Dalmau, he led Quebradillas to two Puerto Rican League Finals in 1999 and 2000, losing both of them to the Cangrejeros de Santurce. He participated with the Puerto Rican National Team in 1998 and 2002. By the end of 2003, Quebradillas had many financial problems and they lost the rights to all their players. Sapientis is a nonprofit organization based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, that improves public education to reduce poverty, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the standard of living in Puerto Rico. Context With over 500,000 children and over 1,500 schools, Puerto Rico's public education system is the third largest in the United States. Cangrejeros De Santurce (basketball)
Cangrejeros de Santurce (in English: Crabmen of Santurce) is the name of several franchises sanctioned by the professional basketball league Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) of Puerto Rico. Named after Santurce, all versions have played out of San Juan. The first franchise was founded in 1918 and began active play in the BSN in 1956, winning titles in 1962 and 1968 before folding. The second iteration of the Cangrejeros played their home games at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum under the ownership of music industry executive Angelo Medina, winning five championships in a six-year span (including four consecutive) and another in 2007. This version remained active for another decade after winning its last championship.
