Ria Visser
Adriana Johanna "Ria" Visser (born 20 July 1961) is a former ice speed skater from the Netherlands Visser participated in six World Allround Speed Skating Championships, performing best at her first attempt in 1979, when she came in 6th. In 1979 and 1980 she won the bronze medal in the World Junior Speed Skating Championships. At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid she won the silver medal in the women's 1500 metres, finishing just behind her Dutch teammate Annie Borckink. Oud-Beijerland
Oud-Beijerland () is a town and former municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland, now a part of the Hoeksche Waard municipality. With a population of 24,575 in 2020, it is the most populous town of the Hoeksche Waard island. The town is located adjacent to the confluence of the Oude Maas and Spui River. The town of Oud-Beijerland also includes the communities Vuurbaken and Zinkweg. History After the St. Elizabeth's flood (1421), large parts of the islands Putten and Grote Waard were lost and became clay banks and salt marshes which would be inundated at high tide and be unsuitable for habitation. In subsequent centuries, portions of land would be reclaimed. Oud-Beijerland was formed in 1559 as "Beijerland" by Lamoral, Count of Egmont. KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships
The Dutch Single Distance Championships of speed skating, organised by the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Schaatsenrijders Bond, KNSB, is the official Netherlands, Dutch championship to determine the Dutch champion over a single distance, in contrast to the KNSB Dutch Allround Championships, which determine the Dutch samalog, allround champion. The single distance championships date back to 1987, and is often used as qualification races for Speed skating World Cup, World Cup and Speed skating at the Winter Olympics, Olympic races. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) uses icons, flags and symbols to elevate the Olympic Games.
