Rhyne Hughes
John Rhyne Hughes (born September 9, 1983) is an American former professional baseball first baseman. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles. Early life and college career Born in Picayune, Mississippi, Hughes attended Picayune Memorial High School, before matriculating at Pearl River Community College. During his final college season, he hit .404 with 17 home runs and 70 RBIs in only 171 at-bats, while pitching 23.1 innings with a 2.70 ERA, striking out 25 and walking 6. In the summer of 2004, Hughes played for the Duluth Huskies in the summer collegiate Northwoods League. Hughes was drafted in the 2003 MLB draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 50th round (1462nd overall), but chose to stay in school at Pearl River Community College. Southwest Michigan Devil Rays
The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays were an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the Midwest League in 2005 and 2006. The club began play in 1995 and was previously known as the Michigan Battle Cats and the Battle Creek Yankees. They played their home games at C.O. Brown Stadium in Battle Creek, Michigan. Following the 2006 season, the team moved to Midland, Michigan and became known as the Great Lakes Loons. Northwoods League
The Northwoods League is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league. All players in the league must have NCAA eligibility remaining in order to participate. The league is amateur, and players are not paid, so as to maintain their college eligibility. Graduated senior pitchers are also eligible to play in the Northwoods League. Each team may have four of these players at a time. Teams play 72 games scheduled from late May to mid-August. The season itself is broken into two halves, with the winners of each half in each of the four sub-divisions playing against each other to determine a sub-divisional champion in a best-of-three series. Eduardo Morlan
Eduardo Morlan Del Rio (born March 1, 1986) is a Cuban minor league baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the third round of the 2004 draft, and was acquired by the Rays after the 2007 season. He started the 2008 season with the Montgomery Biscuits of the Double-A Southern League. Desmond Delane Jennings (born October 30, 1986) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Tampa Bay Rays. Early life Jennings was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the second of three sons born to Edmond and Paulette Jennings. He is a cousin of NFL lineman Andre Smith. At Pinson Valley High School in Pinson, Alabama, Jennings lettered in baseball, football and basketball. He received an offer from the Georgia Bulldogs to play both baseball and football collegiately. Peoria Javelinas
The Peoria Javelinas are a baseball team that plays in the West Division of the Arizona Fall League. The Javelinas play their home games in the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona. The ballpark is also the spring training facility for the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners. The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is an off-season sports league owned and operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) which operates during the autumn in Arizona, United States, at six different baseball complexes. Arizona Fall League rosters are filled by many of the top prospects in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) who are assigned by their parent clubs. Structure The six teams of the AFL are organized in two three-team divisions. Montgomery Biscuits
The Montgomery Biscuits are a Minor League Baseball team based in Montgomery, Alabama. They are the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays and play in the Southern League. The team was founded in Orlando, Florida, in 1973 as the Orlando Twins, an affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. After remaining in the Minnesota minor league organization for 20 seasons, the team became an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs for four seasons and then the Seattle Mariners for one.
