Rhydymwyn F.C. is a football club from Rhydymwyn, Wales. They lasted played in the Ardal Leagues North West, which is at tier 3 of the Welsh football pyramid, before resigning from the league in September 2022. Their home ground was Dolfechlas Road. History Rhydymwyn Football Club was founded in 1911. They came into existence, playing in local soccer, in the old Halkyn and Clwyd Leagues. They would remain in these leagues until moving up to the Welsh Alliance League in 1990. They immediately consolidated their progress by finishing fourth in their first season, and also reaching the final of the Cookson Cup. Their second campaign saw them finish in sixth place, and also reach the final of the North Wales Coast FA Challenge Cup, where they lost 2-1 to the then HFS Loans League side, Colwyn Bay. Rhydymwyn (the name in Welsh means 'Ford of the Ore' and takes its placename from the ford across the River Alyn now replaced by a small iron bridge) is a village in Flintshire, Wales, located in the upper Alyn valley. FAW Trophy
The FAW Welsh Trophy is a knock-out football competition contested annually by teams from Wales and the borders. The Football Association of Wales is the organising body of this competition, which has been run every year since its inception in 1890–91 (except during the two World Wars) for clubs competing in the lower echelons of the Welsh football league system. It was known as the Welsh Junior Cup until 1902, when it became the Welsh Amateur Cup, a title it held until 1974, when it was renamed the FAW Intermediate Cup. The competition took its current title in 1993. Eligible clubs In order to play in this competition a club must compete at Level 3 or below of the Welsh football league system. The 2009–10 Welsh Alliance League, known as the design2print Welsh Alliance League for sponsorship reasons, is the 26th season of the Welsh Alliance League, which is in the third level of the Welsh football pyramid. The league consists of sixteen teams with the champions promoted to the Cymru Alliance and the bottom five relegated to Division 2. The season began on 15 August 2009 and concluded on 15 May 2010 with Rhydymwyn as champions and promoted to the Cymru Alliance.
