Billy Rhines
William Pearl Rhines (March 14, 1869 – January 30, 1922) was a professional baseball player. He was a pitcher over parts of nine seasons (1890–1899) with the Cincinnati Reds, Louisville Colonels and Pittsburgh Pirates. He led the National League in ERA twice (1890 and 1896) while playing for Cincinnati. For his career, he compiled a 114–103 record in 249 appearances, with a 3.47 ERA and 743 strikeouts. Charles Rhines
The execution of Charles Rhines occurred on November 4, 2019, at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Rhines was executed for the 1992 murder of Donnivan Schaefer, whom he killed during a burglary at a doughnut shop in Rapid City. His execution generated attention due to claims that the jury had sentenced him to death because he was gay and that his death sentence was tainted by anti-gay bias. Rhines remains the most recent person executed in South Dakota. Jennifer "Jen" Rhines (born July 1, 1974 in Syracuse, New York) is an American long-distance runner who competes in track, cross country and road running events. She has competed in three different Summer Olympics and made 15 US Teams. Rhines attended Villanova University as an undergraduate. While at Villanova, Rhines was a five-time NCAA individual champion: 5000 meters (1994, 1995, and 1996), 5000i meters (1995), and cross country (1994). She won the Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female cross country runner in 1994–95. As a post-collegiate professional runner, Rhines has won three USA 15K national titles (1998, 2005, 2011), a USA half-marathon championship (2011), and was USA 10,000 meter champion on the track in 2002.
