The Rhein-Ruhr-Marathon is a marathon in Duisburg, which was first held in 1981. It is therefore one of the oldest city marathons in Germany. Frankfurt Marathon
The Frankfurt Marathon (official name as of 2016: Mainova Frankfurt Marathon, until 2015: BMW Frankfurt Marathon, until 2010: Commerzbank Frankfurt Marathon) is a marathon which has taken place every year in Frankfurt am Main since its inception in 1981. The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of , usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. The Wedau Regatta Course is an artificial rowing/canoeing lake in Duisburg, Germany. The Course was built in 1935 and has hosted numerous international watersports events since its construction. Including the 1983 World Rowing Championships. It has also served as host of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships on a number of occasions. The Lake is 2,150m long and 135m wide and up to 9m deep. The Course has a permanent grandstand, TV camera positions, and is in the process of building a warm-up lane, which should mean it will again play host to international rowing events such as the Rowing World Cup. The Bridge of Solidarity (german: 'Brücke der Solidarität') is a bridge across the Rhine between the boroughs of Rheinhausen and Hochfeld in the city of Duisburg. Bridge history Construction on the bridge's predecessor, the ''Admiral-Graf-Spee-Brücke'', was started on 12 January 1934 and the bridge was inaugurated on 22 May 1936 by then-minister Joseph Goebbels. Total building cost was 6.75 million Reichsmark. Like the Duisburg-Hochfeld Railway Bridge, the bridge was blown up by the retreating Wehrmacht on 4 March 1945. Only the floodplain bridge on the left bank of the Rhine remained. In July 1945, a new bridge was already under construction and the bridge was opened to traffic on 3 July 1950. Following a recommendation of Krupp Stahlbau Rheinhausen, the new bridge was built as a Tied-arch bridge, the largest of its kind in Germany at the time with a span of 255.9 metres. Rheinhausen () is a district of the city of Duisburg in Germany, with a population of 78,203 (December 31, 2020) and an area of 38.68 km². It lies on the left bank of the river Rhine.
