Reza Alipour
Reza Alipour Shenazandifard ( fa, رضا علیپور شنازندی فرد, born 29 َApril 1994) is an Iranian speed climber from Qazvin. He is nicknamed the "Persian Cheetah". In 2013 at the World Cup in Haiyang, China, he broke the world record and registered 06.24 seconds to win the first gold medal in speed climbing in Iranian history. Then in 2014 in Spain, he registered 05.97 seconds and broke his own Iranian record in speed climbing. The International Federation of Sport Climbing IFSC titled him an Asiatic cheetah. Upon setting the new world record of 5.48 seconds at the IFSC World Cup Nanjing, he was named the Usain Bolt of speed climbing. On April 30, 2017, in Nanjing, China, Alipour set a new world record; scaling a 15-meter wall in 5.48 seconds, snatching the gold medal, and shattering the previous record of 5.60 seconds held by Ukraine's Danyil Boldyrev. Asiatic Cheetah
The Asiatic cheetah (''Acinonyx jubatus venaticus'') is a critically endangered cheetah subspecies currently only surviving in Iran. It once occurred from the Arabian Peninsula and the Near East to the Caspian region, Transcaucasus, Kyzylkum Desert and northern South Asia, but was extirpated in these regions during the 20th century. The Asiatic cheetah diverged from the cheetah population in Africa between 32,000 and 67,000 years ago. The Asiatic cheetah survives in protected areas in the eastern-central arid region of Iran, where the human population density is very low. Between December 2011 and November 2013, 84 individuals were sighted in 14 different protected areas, and 82 individuals were identified from camera trap photographs. In December 2017, fewer than 50 individuals were thought to be remaining in three subpopulations that are scattered over in Iran's central plateau. The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) is the international governing body for the sport of competitive climbing, which consists of the disciplines lead climbing, speed climbing, and bouldering. It was founded in Frankfurt on 27 January 2007 by 48 member federations, and is a continuation of the International Council for Competition Climbing, which had been in existence from 1997 to 2007 and was a part of the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA). Due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the IFSC suspended the Russian and Belarusian federations, and cancelled all events in Russia in 2022. Speed Climbing
Speed climbing is a climbing discipline in which speed is the ultimate goal. Speed climbing is done on rocks, walls and poles and is only recommended for highly skilled and experienced climbers. Competition speed climbing, which takes place on an artificial standardized climbing wall, is the main form of speed climbing. However, there are other variations of speed climbing that take place outdoors. In pure speed climbing, time is everything but it is also common to record speed ascents while observing a particular climbing style or ethic.
