Revolution (2012 Film)
''Revolution'' is a Canadian 2012 documentary film by Rob Stewart. It follows the filmmaker as he follows up on his earlier film, ''Sharkwater'', and examines both looming environmental collapse and what people, especially young people, are doing to avert it. The film's world premiere was at the Toronto International Film Festival in the TIFF Docs section. Synopsis While on assignment to photograph sharks in the Galapagos Islands, Stewart became aware of illegal longlining, indiscriminately killing sharks within the marine reserve. Rob Stewart (filmmaker)
Rob Stewart (December 28, 1979 – January 31, 2017) was a Canadian photographer, filmmaker and conservation biology, conservationist. He was best known for making and directing the documentary films ''Sharkwater'' and ''Revolution (2012 film), Revolution''. He drowned at the age of 37 while scuba diving in Florida, filming ''Sharkwater Extinction''. Early life Stewart was born in 1979, in Toronto, Ontario, the son of Sandra and Brian Stewart. He began underwater photography as a teenager, and became a scuba diving trainer at eighteen years old. He attended Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute and Crescent School (Toronto), Crescent School in Toronto as a youth. For four years, Stewart was chief photographer for the Canadian Wildlife Federation's magazines, and a Freelancer, freelance journalist. He won awards for his journalism. Shark finning is the act of removing fins from sharks and discarding the rest of the shark back into the ocean. This act is prohibited in many countries. The sharks are often still alive when discarded, but without their fins.Spiegel, J.
