Rettet die Naturvölker (Save the nature peoples), also known as Friends of People Close to Nature (fPcN) or fPcN interCultural, founded in Ludwigslust in 1991 as Freunde der Naturvölker , is a non-governmental European human rights organization that works in the field of indigenous rights. Campaigns are carried out on a global level, with members traveling to East Africa, the Amazon Rainforest and the Philippines. Mission fPcN sees the "afflictions" of indigenous peoples lying in the imposition of alien interests and not in a deficiency of their way of living. Documentary films fPcN has produced several field documentaries about the struggles of aboriginal peoples. Settler Colonialism
Settler colonialism is a structure that perpetuates the elimination of Indigenous people and cultures to replace them with a settler society. Some, but not all, scholars argue that settler colonialism is inherently genocidal. It may be enacted by a variety of means ranging from violent depopulation of the previous inhabitants to less deadly means such as assimilation or recognition of Indigenous identity within a colonial framework. As with all forms of colonialism, it is based on exogenous domination, typically organized or supported by an imperial authority. Akha People
The Akha are an ethnic group who live in small villages at higher elevations in the mountains of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Yunnan Province in China. They made their way from China into Southeast Asia during the early 20th century. Civil war in Burma and Laos resulted in an increased flow of Akha immigrants and there are now 80,000 people living in Thailand's northern provinces of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. ''Prisoners of a White God'' ( cs, Zajatci Bílého Boha) is a Czech documentary film about the Akha people, produced and distributed by Twin Star in September 2008. The documentary is about a Czech researcher, Tomáš Ryška, who goes to the Thai and Laotian mountains in order to search and document the causes of wrongdoing and violence done to the indigenous peoples and their children by Christian missionaries. According to the film, the missionaries' altruistic intentions of converting these indigenous people to Christianity hide the human rights violations of land theft, forced relocation, cultural genocide and imposition of power with a racist view on their society.
