Retired Greyhound Trust
The Greyhound Trust is a national UK charity, founded in 1975 with the vision of "A day when all racing greyhounds retire to loving homes and are treated with compassion and kindness. Originally founded as the National Greyhound Racing Club Retired Greyhound Trust, and known for many years as the "RGT", the charity has found homes for over 100,000 greyhounds, and currently homes around 4,000 a year. The Greyhound Trust is governed by a Board of Directors (Trustees), chaired by Professor Steven Dean and led by the Charity's Chief Executive Lisa Morris. An incorporated charity, registered with the Charity Commission in England and the OSCR in Scotland (Registered Charity 269668 & SC044047). The Trust operates a network of over 50 branches across the UK, with homing led locally by over 1,000 volunteers. National Greyhound Racing Club
The National Greyhound Racing Club was an organisation that governed Greyhound racing in the United Kingdom. History The National Greyhound Racing Club (NGRC) was formed in 1928 and this body would be responsible for regulation, licensing and the rules of racing that came into force on 23 April 1928. It consisted of twelve stewards, one of them senior and most of them with military or police backgrounds. Any greyhound track licensed under NGRC rules would have to adhere to all rules set by them. The National Greyhound Racing Society was a branch of the NGRC responsible for the promotion of the industry. By 1946 the Club employed a 300 strong security service to ensure fair play on its associated tracks. A kennel is a structure or shelter for dogs. Used in the plural, ''the kennels'', the term means any building, collection of buildings or a property in which dogs are housed, maintained, and (though not in all cases) bred.
