Rethabile Nomalanga Khumalo (born ), is a South African singer-songwriter mononymously known as Rethabile. She rose to fame after being featured on a single "Umlilo" by DJ Zinhle, which has been dubbed 3× platinum by RISA with over 9 million YouTube video views. Rethabile Khumalo was declared a platinum selling musician after her hit single 'Ntyilo Ntyilo' became platinum in August 2021. Career In 2012, Rethabile auditioned on ''Idols South Africa'' at the age of 16 and got eliminated. Amapiano ( Zulu for "the pianos") is a style of house music that emerged in South Africa in the mid 2010s. It is a hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music characterized by synths and wide percussive basslines. It is distinguished by high-pitched piano melodies, Kwaito basslines, low tempo 1990s South African house rhythms and percussions from another local subgenre of house known as Tribal house. The 27th Annual South African Music Awards were the 27th edition of the South African Music Awards. The award show was broadcast live on SABC 1 on July 31, 2021 and was held virtually due to the effects of COVID-19 lockdowns. The nominees were announced on 19 May 2021. Kabza De Small received the most nominations with six, ahead of Sun-El Musician with five nominations. 26th South African Music Awards
The 26th Annual South African Music Awards were held on 3–7 August 2020. Unlike previous years shows, the ceremony was broadcast as a five-night event, with the first four episodes being 30 minutes long, while the fifth one was a 45-minute grand finale. It was held virtually due to the effects of COVID-19 lockdowns, and for the first time, the award show was to be broadcast live on Multichoice's Mzansi Magic Channel (the award show was originally broadcast on SABC 1, but due to the channel's financial problems it was cancelled, then it was picked up by Multichoice). ''Idols'' is a television show on the South African television network Mzansi Magic, and previously on M-Net, based on the popular British show ''Pop Idol''. The show is a contest to determine the best young singer in South Africa. The general format of the show is that thousands of hopeful performers from across South Africa audition in front of the judges. They are narrowed down to approximately 100 to enter the theatre rounds. They perform in group and solo rounds until 16 finalists are chosen by the judges (usually 8 males and 8 females). From these, the top 10 are selected, then each week viewers have several hours following the broadcast of the previous episode to vote by phone, SMS or online for their favourite contestant.
