New South Wales Legislative Assembly
The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. The upper house is the New South Wales Legislative Council. Both the Assembly and Council sit at Parliament House in the state capital, Sydney. The Assembly is presided over by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The Assembly has 93 members, elected by single-member constituency, which are commonly known as seats. Voting is by the optional preferential system. Members of the Legislative Assembly have the post-nominals MP after their names. From the creation of the assembly up to about 1990, the post-nominals "MLA" (Member of the Legislative Assembly) were used. Paul Lawrence Toole (born 2 August 1970), an Australian politician, is the Deputy Premier and leader of the New South Wales Nationals since October 2021. Toole is the Minister for Regional New South Wales in the second Berejiklian and Perrottet ministries, since April 2019; and the New South Wales Minister for Police in the Perrottet ministry since December 2021. He is a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, representing Bathurst for the Nationals since 26 March 2011. Dai Trang Le (Vietnamese: Lê Trang Đài) (born ) is an Australian politician currently serving as the federal member for Fowler, deputy mayor of Fairfield and councillor for Fairfield/Cabravale Ward. Le arrived in Australia in 1979 as a refugee of the Vietnam War after fleeing Saigon in April 1975 and spending four years with her family in refugee camps in the Philippines and Hong Kong. She became an ABC journalist and politician, and was named as one of the 100 most influential Australian women in 2014. Nickola "Nick" Lalich (born 1945) is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly since October 2008, representing the electorate of Cabramatta. He also served as mayor of Fairfield from 2004 until March 2012. Early life and career Lalich was born in Egypt to refugee parents who had fled the war in Yugoslavia. His family migrated to Australia when he was three, and spent time in resettlement camps at Uranquinty and Bonegilla. They eventually settled in the Bonnyrigg area, where Lalich's father worked for the Department of the Postmaster-General and ran a farm. Lalich remained in the Bonnyrigg area, where he worked as an electrician for Prospect Electricity before his election to the City of Fairfield council as a Labor candidate in 1987. Cabramatta is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. Its current member is Nick Lalich of the Labor Party. Cabramatta is a 25.73 km2 urban electorate in Greater Western Sydney, centred on the suburb of Cabramatta from which it takes its name. It also includes the suburbs of Bonnyrigg, Bonnyrigg Heights, Cabramatta West, Canley Vale, Edensor Park, Greenfield Park, Lansvale, Mount Pritchard and St Johns Park. Trisha Lee Doyle is an Australian politician who was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the member for Electoral district of Blue Mountains, Blue Mountains for the Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), Labor Party at the 2015 New South Wales state election. Career Doyle was a school teacher, and worked on the staff of Blue Mountains MP Phil Koperberg between 2007 and 2011.
