Rest In P
''Rest in P'' is a 1994 posthumous album release by Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist Eddie Hazel. The album was released by P-Vine records in Japan on July 25, 1994, and is composed of previously unreleased tracks recorded by Eddie Hazel between 1975 and 1977. The album features musical support from various members of the P-Funk stable. Alternate recordings of four tracks from ''Rest in P'' with different titles were also featured on the ''Jams From The Heart'' Extended play, EP and were included as bonus tracks on Rhino Entertainment, Rhino Records' 2004 Special edition#Limited edition, limited-edition reissue of ''Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs''. Despite being heavily sought by collectors, ''Rest In P'' has never been released outside of Japan. Eddie Hazel
Edward Earl Hazel (April 10, 1950 – December 23, 1992) was an American guitarist and singer in early funk music who played lead guitar with Parliament-Funkadelic. Hazel was a posthumous inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. His ten-minute guitar solo in the Funkadelic song " Maggot Brain" is hailed as "one of the greatest solos of all time on any instrument". In 2015, ''Rolling Stone'' ranked Hazel at no. 83 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists. Billy Bass Nelson
William "Billy Bass" Nelson (born January 28, 1951) is a U.S. musician, who was the original bassist for Funkadelic. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Career Nelson was born in Plainfield, New Jersey and as a teenager worked at George Clinton's barbershop, sweeping the floor and singing and dancing for the customers. Clinton was a member of the doo wop vocal group the Parliaments, who scored a nationwide hit in 1967 with the song "(I Wanna) Testify". Clinton put together a backing band as musical support for a tour and recruited Nelson, who in turn recommended his friend Eddie Hazel. Nelson and Hazel eventually took on bass and lead guitar roles respectively. Dawn Silva
Dawn Silva is an American funk vocalist. Silva started her career as a background vocalist for Sly and the Family Stone. She joined Parliament-Funkadelic in 1977. She was the only original Brides of Funkenstein member to continue through the Brides' entire career. In 1978, with Lynn Mabry, she released the successful '' Funk Or Walk''. The Bride's first single release on Atlantic Records, "Disco To Go", sold over five hundred thousand units, and was certified Gold. In 1979, with Sheila Horne and Jeanette McGruder, she released the top single "Never Buy Texas From A Cowboy," voted by '' Rolling Stone'' in 2001 as one of the top 50 coolest albums ever released. Lynn Mabry (born March 21, 1958) is an American singer. Early life Born in Vallejo, California, Mabry's mother enjoyed playing piano and her father was a choir director and radio DJ. They divorced when she was 3 years old. Career She got her start in Sly and the Family Stone, along with Dawn Silva. In 1977, she joined P-Funk. The following year, Mabry and Silva became the original Brides of Funkenstein, releasing their first album ''Funk Or Walk''. Mabry became pregnant and left the band in 1979. She gave birth to a daughter named Akasha Larain Morrison in December 1979 (father is Walter "Junie" Morrison). Jerome Eugene "Bigfoot" Brailey (born August 20, 1950) is an American drummer, best known for his work with P-Funk, which included the bands Parliament, Funkadelic, and numerous related projects. Brailey is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Career Jerome Brailey started performing around 1968 with the R&B group The Unifics, The Five Stairsteps, then The Chambers Brothers. George Clinton saw Jerome performing with The Chambers Brothers and invited him to join the Funk Mob after witnessing his style and finesse on drums. George Allen "Buddy" Miles Jr. (September 5, 1947February 26, 2008) was an American composer, drummer, guitarist, vocalist and producer. Ramon "Tiki" Fulwood (May 23, 1944 – October 29, 1979) was an American musician. He was the drummer for the funk bands Parliament and Funkadelic, as well as a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Career Fulwood was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1944. In the late 1960s, Fulwood was the house drummer for the Uptown Theater in Philadelphia when he met guitarist Eddie Hazel.
