Republica are an English alternative rock band formed in 1994. The height of their popularity spanned from 1996 to 1999. The current line-up consists of Saffron (vocals), Tim Dorney (keyboards), Johnny Male (guitar), Conor Lawrence (drums). The Republica sound was described by the band as "technopop punk rock". The band went on hiatus in 2001 and reunited in 2008. Republica are best known for the single " Ready to Go". History Former Flowered Up keyboard player Tim Dorney and Andy Todd founded Republica. The Nigerian-born Saffron was an actress at one point, performing for two years in London's ''Starlight Express''. VEB Typoart was the only type foundry of East Germany. It was a state-owned enterprise ("Volkseigener Betrieb") located in Dresden. The foundry's most influential art directors were Herbert Thannhäuser (until 1963) and Albert Kapr (until 1987). ''Republica'' (stylised as ''República'') is an English-language National daily newspaper published by Nepal Republic Media in Kathmandu, Nepal. Founded by in 2009 by Ameet Dhakal, ''República'' is the sister publication of ''Nagarik,'' the vernacular Nepali-language daily published by the same company. Overview Ameet Dhakal was the founding editor in chief of the newspaper but resigned in April 2012, whereupon Kosmos Biswakarma took over the editorship. In November 2014, Subhash Ghimire was named current editor-in-chief of the newspaper. Nepal Republic Media is owned by the Gyawali family, who co-founded Nepal's Kantipur Publications. República is an underground metro station on the Line 1 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. This station is named for República Avenue. The station was opened on 15 September 1975 as part of the inaugural section of the line between San Pablo and La Moneda.
