Republic Of Korea Army Band
The Republic of Korea Army Band (ROK Army Band) () is a South Korean state ceremonies unit of the Republic of Korea Army that is the representative marching band of the ROK Army and the seniormost one in the ROK Armed Forces, reporting directly to the Army Capital Defense Command. It specializes in Korean martial and traditional music and modernized adaptations of folk songs for performances during concerts. It mainly performs at state arrival ceremonies at the Blue House in Seoul with the Joint-Service Guard of honour. It was formed in the 1950s as a result of a pan-ROKAF creation of military bands. In 2003, the band took part in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. It has participated in the Virginia International Tattoo in 2007 and 2010. III Marine Expeditionary Force Band
III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) is a formation of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force of the United States Marine Corps. It is forward-deployed and able to rapidly conduct operations across the spectrum from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR) to amphibious assault and high-intensity combat. It maintains a forward presence in Japan and Asia to support the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan (1960) and other alliance relationships of the United States. Daechwita
Daechwita () is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while marching or as a static performance. Instrumentation Instruments used include ''nabal'' (brass horn), ''nagak'' (seashell horn), and ''taepyeongso'' (shawm), with '' jing'' (gong), '' jabara'' (cymbals), and ''yonggo'' (hangul: 용고; hanja: 龍鼓; drum painted with dragon designs and played with hard mallets). This style of Korean military music is often used in the reenactment of the Guard Changing Ceremony at Seoul's Gyeongbok Palace, as well as in Deoksu Palace. Marching percussion instruments are instruments specially designed to be played while moving. This is achieved by attaching the drum(s) to a special harness (also called a carrier or rack) worn by the drummer, although not all marching bands use such harnesses and instead use traditional baldrics to sling their drums (the British Armed Forces, for instance, still use the old style of slung drums). The Virginia International Tattoo is a military tattoo that began in 1997 and is the signature event of the Virginia Arts Festival. Presented annually in Norfolk, Virginia, the tattoo is an exhibition of military bands, massed pipes and drums, military drill teams, Celtic dancers, and choirs. It is presented in cooperation with NATO and the Norfolk NATO Festival.
