Reptile House
Reptile House was an 1980s American punk band from the Baltimore's music scene. The band included Daniel Higgs, later of Lungfish, guitarists Alex Layne, Asa Osborne and Joe Goldsborough, bass players David Rhodes and Leigh Panlilio, as well as drummers Gary Breezee and London May who went on to play in Glenn Danzig's post-Misfits band Samhain. They recorded the 7" '' I Stumble as the Crow Flies'' on Dischord Records with Washington D.C. hardcore pioneer Ian MacKaye and also released a full-length LP, ''Listen To The Powersoul'', on the Baltimore label Merkin Records in fall 1988. Dischord Records is a Washington, D.C.-based independent record label specializing in punk rock. Steven Blush is an American author, journalist, record collector and film maker who is best known for his book ''American Hardcore'' and the movie of the same name. Blush has written five books, is the founder of ''Seconds'' magazine and has written articles for many magazines. Two of his books have been made into movies. Ian MacKaye
Ian Thomas Garner MacKaye (; born April 16, 1962) is an American musician. Active since 1979, he is best known as the co-founder and owner of Dischord Records, a Washington, D.C.-based independent record label and the frontman of hardcore punk band Minor Threat and post-hardcore band Fugazi. MacKaye was also the frontman for the short-lived bands the Teen Idles, Embrace, and Pailhead, a collaboration with the band Ministry. I Stumble As The Crow Flies
''I Stumble as the Crow Flies'' is the first EP by the American punk band Reptile House. It was released in November 1985 through Dischord Records with the catalog number DIS 15.75 01. Drummer London May has likened the sound of the EP to the San Francisco punk/noise rock band Flipper, due to its mid-tempo rhythms and, noisy, jam-session sound. All songs were composed by Reptile House, with vocalist Daniel V. Strasser (later known as Daniel Higgs) writing the lyrics. ''I Stumble as the Crow Flies'' has never been released on CD, but in 2010, producer Ian Mackaye and London May got together to re-issue the EP for its 25th anniversary. Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of punk music that emerged in the late 1970s as musicians departed from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Samhain (band)
Samhain was an American rock band formed by singer Glenn Danzig in 1983, immediately following his departure from Misfits. Glenn Danzig originally planned Samhain as a side project with Eerie Von. After the Misfits' contentious 1983 dissolution, Samhain became Danzig's full-time band. Samhain catalogs a transitional period in Glenn Danzig's musical career, bridging the gap between the punk rock/horror punk of the Misfits and the dark, heavy metal- and blues-influenced sound of Danzig. Misfits (band)
The Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the pioneers of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. The group was founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, by vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Glenn Danzig, and drummer Manny Martínez. Jerry Only joined on bass guitar shortly after.
