Representaciones Televisivas (Televised Representations) S.A., commonly known as Repretel or Grupo Repretel is a Costa Rican media company, founded by Remigio Gonzalez, that came into competition with Teletica and Canal9. Repretel owns Costa Rican channels 4, 6, 11 and 2. Repretel began operating in 1993 with Channel 9, in 2000 the lease expired and moved to Channel 4. The company also operates 11 radio stations. In 2012, Repretel bought Channel 2, from Mrs. Roxie Blen and branded the channel as CDR 2. TV Stations Channel 6 Channel 6 is the flagship TV station, carries the most popular shows, entertainment, sports and news of the network. The news has four daily editions. Included in the entertainment programs is 2 and a half hours of programs aimed towards women. Repretel 4
Canal 4 is a private Costa Rican television channel, owned and operated by Repretel. It was the second television station acquired by Repretel in Costa Rica. The station broadcasts on channel 6.2 which the frequency is used by sister channel Canal 6 due to the original frequency being impossible to convert to digital until 2021. History The station was acquired from TV Azteca, when the Mexican company decided to sell their Latin American television stations in Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador and Chile to invest in their mobile services in Mexico. At the time of the sale, TV Azteca still owed money to original owners and responsible of Channel 9 operations. Since Repretel was sub-leasing Channel 9 from TV Azteca at the time, the process of the sale was seamless. Repretel 9
Canal 9 is the second television station established in Costa Rica, having begun broadcasts in 1961 as Tic Tac Canal 9. In 1993, the channel was acquired by Remigio Ángel González becoming the first station owned by the then-new Repretel group. It later sub-leased to TV Azteca TV Azteca, S.A.B. de C.V. is a Mexican multimedia conglomerate owned by Grupo Salinas. It is the second-largest mass media company in Mexico after Televisa. Remigio Ángel González
Remigio Ángel González is a Mexican-born owner of the Latin American media network Albavisión. He has lived in Miami since 1987. The network (previously named Televideo Services) is named for his wife Alba Elvira Lorenzana, who is from Guatemala. Televisora de Costa Rica S.A., known as Teletica is a Costa Rican television broadcaster, founded in 1958. It operates Teletica Canal 7, XperTV Canal 33, and, since 1991 (partially since 2018), CableTica (now called Liberty). History In October 1958 an agreement was signed that gave rise to Televisora de Costa Rica S.A., Teletica Channel 7. Mario Echandi, President of Costa Rica, decided to grant licenses to public television. Two men were his predecessors, René Picado Esquivel and Carlos Manuel Reyes and his wife Andreina Otalvaro. On May 9, 1960 the first television broadcast was held. The ''Billboard'' Latin Music Awards grew out of the ''Billboard'' Music Awards program from ''Billboard'' magazine, an industry publication charting the sales and radio airplay success of musical recordings. El Chavo (animated Series)
''El Chavo Animado'' (''El Chavo: The Animated Series'' in English) is a Mexican animated series based on the live action television series ''El Chavo del Ocho'', created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños, produced by Televisa and Ánima Estudios. It aired on Canal 5, and repeats were also shown on Las Estrellas and Cartoon Network Latin America. 134 episodes aired between 2006 and 2014 and starts a hiatus. After several years of successful repeats of the original series, on 21 October 2006 Televisa launched in Mexico and the rest of Latin America an animated version of the program by Ánima Estudios to capitalise on the original series' popularity. With the series, Televisa began a marketing campaign which included merchandise tie-ins. Lease
A lease is a contractual arrangement calling for the user (referred to as the ''lessee'') to pay the owner (referred to as the ''lessor'') for the use of an asset.
